Now that almost three months have passed, I have started to sell my deceased parents things. I have gone to a variety of jewery stores and have sold their rings. I went to a collector and sold a number of rare coins and large bills ($500 and $1000 bills that no longer circulate).

An auction is scheduled to sell all the furniture, antiques and other misc things. That should be an interesting event, to say the least. Everything of value will be sold!

Has anyone had experiences selling off relatives goods and have any advice for me?

Can't help you, just wanted to say that I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is a very emmotional process but you seem to be very organized. I hope the auction goes well.

I don't know that I could do this...especially the jewelry...my father made sure that my mother had something she could leave to each of her daughters to remember her by...I'm hoping I don't get mine for a long, long time....

Why are you asking us intellectually inferior (mostly women) a question that you should clearly know the answer to yourself. Please go ask one of those people you meet who seem to be interesting intellectual individuals who do not have kids, that's my advice.

And before I'm flamed, please do a search on the OP and find out who/what you're dealing with. Meanwhile, here is a little something from a thread he started a little while ago, just so you know where he's coming from:

My wife and I do not have kids, nor have any interest in having any in the future. Though I do have an observation about people (especially women) who have children:

The kids control and dominate their life and make them boring people!

The people I meet who seem to be interesting intellectual individuals do not have kids. These are the people who care about learning about the world around them, read interesting non fiction books, magazines and newspapers and like to talk about current events. They are involved in the community.

The women who have children like to talk about one thing- THEIR KIDS. It seems like they have any one interest- their kids. Conversation with mothers is boring. "Oh, Johnny has been sick" "Did I tell you that Johnny has had trouble in school?" "Johnny has wants a new pair of tennis shoes" ON AND ON.

So does having children limit the intellectual development of people who have children?

Here's a little more history in reference to a Personal Injury lawyer contacting him to sue the estate of his parents. He claims to have already received enough money from the estate that he will never have to work again or he will be able to live comfortablly or something like that, then he posted this thread about suing his deceased father for wrongful death of his mother in an automoblie accident. Do a search, it's interesting reading:

Some good feedback here but some facts and analysis is missing:

The State the accident occured is "no fault" so my father's insurance company will pay the claim.

The household exclusion (family exclusion) or intrafamily exclusion (depending on what you call it) has been declared illegal by the courts of the State in which the accident occured.

Yes, we have talked to other lawyers about this situation and they all maintain there has been successful settlements for accidents that were identical in all ways to the tragic case of my mother and father.

Yes we got a nice amount of money from the estate of Mom and Dad but we would like more. How much is ever enough.

Is there anyone who agrees that this lawsuit is a good idea. (What if drug abuse was involved on my fathers part and it had an impact on his driving that day, would it make a difference in this situation?)

Please refer to Dan's post about trolls. Ithink we may have one here in the OP.

And let's not forget the post where the person claims that her husband looks at women magazines. She/he can't decide what sex they are.

I'm sorry but I found this so disgusting. People actually deal with these types of decisions in RL and here you make a big joke out of it. Get help - you need it.

So sorry for your loss. I know this must be a hard thing to do. No experience with it though. When my father passed away, we pretty much divided up his things that were "valuable" to us. His clothes we donated.
