We are starting to talk about plans for our 40th anniversary with our family next year. (DD, DSIL, DS, DDIL, 2 DGSs (5 and 7 at the time) and 2 DGDs ( 4 and 1 1/2 at the time.) We are looking at 10 days. We stayed 1 night at AoA in Nov. and DGS wants to stay there again so we will spend 2 or 3 nights so the kids can enjoy the pools ,then a week at SSR. Let the planning begin!!!!!!

Some people think it sounds strange , but we just celebrated our 30th anniversary at WDW and had an awesome time. We had a beautiful custom cake-we had eloped and had no hooplah 30 years ago and I didn't miss anything else, but I really missed not having a cake. So DH got me a custom cake for our anniversary. We ate dinner at Artist Point, which couldn't have made our dinner more special or memorable, from the first sip of complimentary champagne to the last bite of cake. We went to a pick-a-pearl place for one anniversary (25th), DH picked the oyster and I picked the setting and later he presented me with a beautiful ring.
I see you live near Boston-I hope that by the time you go to WDW, you're no longer in mourning from last night's Patriot's game (DS is a huge Patriots fan).

DW and I taken our 15th, 20th, & 25th anniversaries on DCLs. We were married on a cruise ship.
If your heart is set on going to the resorts and parks go ahead; happy anniversary.

We had originally thought we'd like to take a cruise then WDW but a DISNEY cruise for everyone is a bit cost prohibitive. We all love Disney and really enjoy having our whole gang together. Simba's mom- DH is a NY Giants fan but the rest of the family are Pat's fans. DSIL went to the game last night and DD sent me a picture of all the grandkids (5- 3 1/2months) with their Pat's shirts on!

We celebrated our 42nd Anniversary with our kids/grandkids this past summer and had a ball. There were 10 of that were able to come and we had a 2BR for each family and a 1BR for DW and myself , all at OKW. Everything went very well with a few ADRs (Ohanna, T-Rex) but mostly found that counter serves worked best for everyone (Earl of Sandwich and Columbia Harbour House were favorites of the grandkids). All of the children have been to WDW 4-6 times at this point but truly enjoy the atmosphere. We spent time at each park as well as Blizzard Beach. Everyone loved the meal at Ohanna since they could have as much food at they wanted.

Happy Anniversary! Enjoy the gathering. :)

Thanks Doc, That is what we will probably do, just a couple of ADRs. We usually eat breakfast every morning in the villa and we enjoy grilling. All of the g-kids have been to WDW before. It is just hard for us all to go together so this will be so fun. We will have a 1 and a 2 bbrm.

We just got back from our 39th anniversary trip to WDW. We have done trips in the past with ALL the kids and grandkids, did our 25th and a couple other anniversaries "solo", but this time we took 2 of the 4 kids (it was their 'turn' this time) and respective grandkids. The entire group stayed at Vero Beach for 3 nights, then moved to AKV (Kidani) for 5 nights, then 2 at SSR (Treehouses). BUT after 3 nights at Kidani, DH and I took off on our first Disney Cruise (Members cruise on the Dream) and then rejoined the group afterwards. You may not want to do as much moving around as we did (we've done some switches before so the kids handled it find without us) but you might want to consider a short getaway for just the two of you if the rest of your group wouldn't be upset to be on their own for a bit. It worked out well for us (well, aside from the fact that DH decided he doesn't really like cruising but that's a different issue altogether). ;) Now we are ALSO trying to decide what to do for the 40th...

We're also planning our 40th anniversary trip next year. It won't be the actual anniversary since we were married the day after my birthday, which is on 4th July and I've never had a desire to cope with the heat and crowds at that time. We're taking DS, DDIL and grandsons who will be 4.5 and 3 by then. My plan is a beach cottage at VB for 4 nights (only have enough points to get it for 2 nights at 11 months, so that could be nail-biting!) then a 2 brm at OKW.

Sounds like paradise! Enjoy your trip!:flower3:

Happy upcoming Anniversary! Wonderful idea to plan a family trip to celebrate in Disney!

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary there. It was just the 4 of us and DD's boyfriend. We renewed our vows, not through Disney, but with a Justice of the Peace in a very casual ceremony/setting, and then booked dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse, with a custom made cake. We went into DTD that morning to the kiosk that makes the initial sterling silver rings and had silver wedding band's made, since it was our silver anniversary, and of course, used them at our ceremony.

The steakhouse made is so very special, a champagne toast, wonderful dinner, great service and a special small dessert dish with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate in chocolate, with small chocolates and truffles. On top of that, they had our menu's custom made with a rose graphic across the top and "Happy Anniversary" written over it. I kept them!

They came over after dinner with our gorgeous, delicious cake,(made by the Yachtsman Steakhouse pastry chef) with white glove service to cut and serve the cake. It was a magical wonderful day and night.

2014 is our 30th anniversary, and I want to plan something special there again. Enjoy every single minute of it!

We're (well I'm ;) ) planning our 40th for next year too!!
And my 60th will be there next year too..............DH choose a cruise for his 60th, so it will be a busy year.

Now the odd thing..........I will be doing a solo trip for our anniversary :rotfl:
DH wants to do something else (a tour of woodworking places) and I am NOT going to do that, so we agree to do separate ones.
Both birthday ones will be together, so we are good on that.

We'll be at DLR this year for our 39th.

Have fun planning!!

Looks like a lot of us will be celebrating big anniversaries next year. We will be planning a special dinner somewhere! This morning I was talking to my 5 1/2 yo. DGS. He said he "really, really wants to stay at the Boardwalk again because they a a "really good" bakery." We stayed there in July 0f 2011 and bought my DD a birthday cake at the bakery. He said "it's a really nice place Mimi" So I guess we'll see were we are going to stay.

....Can you say: year number 45 for Dw and i in May of this year.
Last year we spent a lot of time at OKW and Two cruises, a 5 day Magic cruise, the last part of April , and then our anniversary cruise on the Dream the first part of May. IT WAS GREAT!
