After looking at some of the townhouses available, you guys are making me reconsider staying onsite at POR for 12 days!!!

It would be nice to have extra space and be able to spend some private time with dh on vacation as well........

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

I don't know how many kids you have but we have stayed at POR when I was still married with 3 kids and it was horrible. It was way too close quarters and way too far to get to a bus or anything. I will never stay there again. I recently found an offsite townhome for a week at Windsor Hills for $600. I actually like staying offsite and having a little bit of independence to get to a Walmart or something if I need to. I would seriously think about it. Good luck in your decision making.

I agree. With 3 kids and 2 adults for 12 days, I think you would much rather have the room and comforts of a condo or pool home. And probably for the same price as your hotel room, maybe even cheaper. :thumbsup2

for 12 nights you can do both - stay mostly offsite but the last 2 or 3 days stay onsite.

remember you need a car staying offsite. no DME or WDW transportation.

We stayed at POFQ with just two kids and we were really cramped. There is no way that I would ever do that again. I also hate that there are only two double beds. When you are used to sleeping in a king size bed there is no going back. At least if you split your stay you could have access to a washer. I cannot image going 12 nights without having to do some laundry.

This is a great idea. We split our stay in 2005, and did the onsite at the end. Looking back, it would have been better to do the onsite first. Then after a few days, when we didn't want to be in the same room anymore, and had our fix of 24/7 WDW craziness/magic, we could relocate to the more spacious. comfortable, relaxing, and economical digs offsite.

If you rent a car, I'd think you'd enjoy a split stay.

Well, we will already have a car as we are driving to florida from Indiana. We will be in Florida from June 23rd - July 5th.

LOL, I hear you about the king size bed - only problem with ours - we usually wake up with our two youngest and the 70lb lap dog in bed with us.....

Why do you think we need a king size bed...two kids, the dog, the cat...my DH is often sleeping on the bottom of the empty bunkbed just to get some peace:rotfl: :rotfl:

My biggest gripe with staying onsite with kids (apart from the expense) is that the WDW Resort cable TV mostly just carries Disney kids channels, but not the Noggin/PBS-Sprout channel we prefer for the kid.

OK, all those with a townhouse available for the second half of our June 23rd to July 5 (or 6) trip - email me!!!!!!!!

I think disney is going to make my head explode....

12 days in one room with 3 kids including a teenager (which is my family as well) would not be my idea of a fun vacation! I stayed in a townhome at EI last trip and I'll never stay in a hotel room again! The extra room, the convenience of having a kitchen and laundry, the quiet pool and the proximity to the parks just can't be beat.

Ok, I have been convinced - my TA is going to kill me!!!! My dh says do whatever, just make a decision!!! LOL.....

Anyway - a split sounds like the best thing to do. 6 or 7 nights at POR then offsite for the remainder. We were doing the DDP for the entire time too, so I will have to change some of the reservations.

Thanks for everyone's input - next - which offsite place to stay!!! :scared1: :scared1:

I think it's wise to split up your trip or just stay offsite the whole time. I'd think you'll have an easier time booking a whole week for the offsite rental, you may want to work your onsite reservation around what you come up with offsite (keep your reservation till you have something else worked out!).

The thought of 12 days in one room with my whole family is scary  ! I like to get some quality time with dh on vacation :woohoo: , that wouldn't be very easy with an audience every night popcorn:: .
