I wish I had found this board BEFORE all our reservations had been made for our recent trip this past week, but like they say, mistakes are made to be learned from so I may as well make some lemonade.

Anywho, what we're planning on is a more adult-centric trip this next time around. We've stayed at POP and some of the All Star resorts but want something less aimed at entertaining/accommodating the little ones, and more aimed at adults.

We're not looking for any kind of special themeing with Disney characters or really any of the usual Disney hype, just a pleasant atmosphere that adults can enjoy. We will also have one or two singles with us so being away from the kiddos and able to be with others their age (late 20s) will definitely be nice. I found from personal experience that the value resorts are not conducive at all for those looking to mingle. I felt totally out of place at the resort and my only solace was escaping to downtown disney or boardwalk to be surrounded by people more my age (and enjoy a few drinks).

We're looking at doing one of the moderate resorts but aren't sure if one is better suited to our plans than another. I quick search around turned up a lot of recommendations for Port Orleans, but a lot of those results were from several years ago so I'm not certain if those still hold true or if there's been a shift since then.

I'll continue poking around here as there is definitely a wealth of info here and hope to be able to start giving back soon enough. :)

We've stayed at Port Orleans-Riverside and really liked it!! The Magnolia Bend area of rooms has a very sophisticated feel. The only thing there that may seem geared toward kids is the water slide at the pool! You may also want to look at the Coronado Springs resort.

Thanks we'll look into that resort as well. It's looking more and more like we'll go with one of the Port Orleans areas after digging deeper into some of the info here.

I think any of the moderates would be more adult oriented than the values, just because their "themes" aren't as in your face as the values are (don't get me wrong, I like the values and the moderates, but the moderates are a lot more subtle).

If you can get a good discount, I would try for AKL. I think it's a good choice for an adult trip - it has some great restaurants, excellent theming, and it's very relaxing to sit on your balcony and watch the animals. It's also away from the hustle and bustle more than the other resorts. Since WL and AKL are lower priced deluxes, and the deluxes often have a higher percentage of discount than the moderates, sometimes they can be competitive in price.

As far as moderates, I think Coronado Springs is the most adult oriented. It is very relaxing and peaceful, and honestly, there just weren't that many kids around when we stayed there. I don't know if it's because there are so many conferences there or what, but it just seemed like a more adult oriented resort than others we have stayed in. Now, if you can swing deluxe, I would choose Beach Club or Boardwalk in a heartbeat!

Actually the CR has very "adult" feel to the rooms, and if you get a room in the Garden Wing VERY quiet atmosphere. I know it's a bit more expensive than the Moderates, but ...

We returned a couple weeks ago from a week at POR. We did have 2 kids but my wife and I loved the resort. We stayed in mansion section (Oak Manor) with a royal room but I believe there are a couple other mansion buildings that are not the themed rooms. It is a very relaxing resort and the grounds are very nice and enjoyable to walk. There is a pool bar at the main pool and a bar/lounge in the main building. If it was just me and my wife we could have never left the resort and had a great time. There is a boat to DTD, took longer than expected but still nice. This was our first ever DW trip so can't really compare. One complaint I did see was that POR is big and spread out but it's not bad at all if you are the mansion section, and we had 2 kids and a stroller! Anyway, I see a lot people saying that the deluxes are better due to being less spread out but we loved the large grounds and walking around the resort. The only reason we would upgrade to deluxe would be for proximity to parks/monorail but the busses at POR were fine. We did walk to POFQ one morning for beignets and was a quick walk and FQ looked nice too.
