I would love for dh and I to meet some couple friends. I read an article about supper clubs where there is a group of people who take turns hosting a monthly dinner in their homes. It's a chance to try new things and to show off a bit in a casual way. I did a search and could find none near me. Has anybody ever started something like this? How would you go about finding interested people, single or couple. What would you call such a club?

Oh I did this in our old neighborhood. It was run by the Welcome Wagon in town. They put out a "menu" we were 4 couples- and each person had to make a portion of the meal. Then we'd get together at one couples house.

It was fun. We knew each other though. It was one friend of mine- and I brought another couple in and they did the same. We laughed our way through most of the meals and eventually ended up getting take out and just hanging out. But we did all become great friends = and then we moved.

If you are interested in starting it- I would start with someone you kind of know. See if they are interested and if they know someone that might be and get a group going. It's better than being with complete strangers I think.

Have fun!
Ours were all themed meals-- which added to the fun factor for us. Gosh I miss them. They were very very funny!

I forget what we called them though.
Oh and ours wasn't about showing off at all - we usually ended up laughing at our failures! it's what bound us together!

I am in one with 5 other couples but we mostly already knew each other. It would be fun to do it with new people.

Ours every 6 weeks. Everyone brings either an appetizer or dessert and usually some alchohol. Lately, ours have become themed. So far we've had-German, Japanese, Polish, Hungarian, Canadian, alchohol-themed. It's been fun but after a full year, ours may be petering out. Good luck!

bump for more tips.
Did anybody else notice a board outage last night?

Theres' a website called meetup.com where you can find social groups in your area or create one if what you're interested in isn't there already. Sounds really fun, good luck!
