I've wanted one forever. And I want it cheapish! :goodvibes A bit surprised that the majority of threads around here about them are from 2010 with very little posted this year at all.

I'm looking to get started on one, and I want quality stuff but I'm not real picky. I just don't want to buy things that will tarnish or fade. Can anyone direct me to good places to purchase from?

I was thinking of starting with a leather Chamilia bracelet and going from there.

Any advice would be great!

Judging from how busy we've been at work lately, nope, Pandora is still a HUGE seller. ;)

If you want "cheapish", I'd suggest starting with something other than Pandora. :)

The search feature hasn't been working correctly for a long time. For some reason, it's only bringing up relevant threads from 2010 or earlier. :confused3

I think you don't see threads about them because if you're looking for a name brand one (pandora, chamilia) it's rare to find deals or sales.

Earlier this year Pandora had a spend $50/$75 in charms and get a free clasp bracelet and I think maybe 2-3 times a year authorized Chamilia dealers have buy 2 or 3 get beads, get the 3 or 4 free. But other than those times a year, there really aren't deals and there pretty much the same price.

I hope they are still "cool". My husband got me one for my birthday in Sept. I love it. I have 3 beads and 2 stoppers so far. An anchor for my husband (former Navy pilot), blue gems for my son's birthday and a wedding one for our anniversary. They are all Pandora and that's what I will stick with.

Oooohh, do you work for Pandora? Got any inside info on the Midnight Heart charm? I won't tell anyone you told

OP, there is a local boutique that sells Pandora here and the Pandora section is always busy. I love mine, and its still popular to me :)

Huh. I never noticed the search was messed up, and I didn't mean to offend any fans. I meant it to be tongue in cheek.

As far as being "cheap" I just mean I don't want to pay $100 just for the bracelet with no beads. That's why I was looking at the leather ones.

I'd like to just get started with the bracelet and a couple beads and get new beads for special occasions.

So lets start over. :)
Are the leather bracelets a good bet or am I better off going with the silver? Are there any retailers you prefer? Any other getting started info I should know?
Thanks!!

I bought DD16 a Pandora (back in Sept) for her 16th Birthday which was earlier this month. She has wanted one for a couple of years now and I was able to get the free bracelet (with the good clasp) with $100 purchase back in Sept (like the 8th and 9th). I bought her 3 charms, the sweet 16 dangle, the coffee cup (she loves Starbucks coffee) and the suitcase (for our trip we were going on). The charms totaled $105 and the bracelet was worth $65. I think that was a pretty decent deal. Authorized Pandora retailers only do that deal a couple of times a year. I'm glad I thought to plan ahead for her Birthday!

I can tell you two things ~ well, three actually.

It has a little bit of gold on it, the selling price is $90 and we are pre-selling them. :) (All the previous info is manager-approved ;)). It's what we are able to tell customers when they come in and ask about the Black Friday charm. :)

I may just wait for the next sale like that. I don't need anything for Christmas this year. It's just every year I wish I had one at Christmas so I'd have something easy and that I really want on my wish list! :thumbsup2

Is there any good way to learn about similar sales? I know so many things are regional...

Will it fit on a trollbead bracelet?

I wasn't offended. Just irritated that search doesn't work like it's supposed to.

On the Pandora leather bracelets, we only recommend 5 charms or less, since the leather stretches. Also, the leather bracelets are not divided into sections like the snake bracelets, so the charms slide all over. Some people don't mind that, others do. :)

The Pandora bracelets start at $50 for the lobster clasp and the barrel Pandora clasp (the most popular) is $65. :) They come in different sizes to fit your wrist, but the price does not increase with a different size.

Hmm, I don't know. Do the troll beads have threads on them?

According to google  Pandora charms fit on Troll bracelets, but not the other way around, since the troll beads don't have threads on them. :)

Thanks! Sorry to make you work when you aren't at work!

$65 isn't bad at all! Now I just have to watch for a sale. I'm sure there won't be any before Christmas. There has to be a bracelet fan site out there that would alert me to deals...

No worries. I liked talking about my bracelet even before I got a job there. LOL

I know our store is running two "starter" specials for the holidays, but I don't know if that is chain-wide or not. I work at a concept store, which means we carry all the Pandora lines (bracelets, charms, earrings, necklaces, rings and watches).

That's what I've found to be true so far, I started with a Chamilia bracelet but I like the decorative lobster clasps that troll has. The troll one right now has locking Chamilia stops and Chamilia and troll beads and spacers. At the time I started my local dealer had discontinued Pandora and was carrying Chamilia and troll. I like the fact that Chamilia has the Disney beads, so I started mine and both daughters as Chamilia. Older dd found the DCL one while we were on board the Dream and younger dd has Cinderellas coach from the WOD store at DTD. I may have to check out this Pandora bead. ;)

I have a pandora leather bracelet and a chamilia leather one. I only collect chamilia charms though. They have the Disney ones. The beads work on either brand bracelet. I use the locks on the leather to keep the beads from sliding.

Chamilia retailers often have buy 3 get one free bead sales, or buy three beads get a free bracelet.

We have a jewelry thread with pics going here...

I know what I'm going to spend my day doing tomorrow! Thank you!

It isn't that the Trollbeads don't have threads on them it's that the Troll Beads have a smaller inner circumference so the hole in the Troll bead won't fit over the threading at the beginning of the Pandora and Chamilia bracelets. Pandora and chamilia beads fit on the Troll bracelets because the beads have an inner hole circumference that is bigger than the bracelet's circumference. Some knock off beads have no threading at all and will fit on Chamilia and Pandora bracelets. Aside from making sure that you're not getting cheapy plastic beads instead of silver the next big trick when buying knock off beads is not just to make sure that the threading is right but to make sure that the inner hole is big enough. Trust me I've tried it :rolleyes1

As far as the leather. I didn't like them because the little bit of silver that attached the clasp to the leather seemed flimsy to me. The clasp was very very floppy as compared to the all silver bracelets.
