After we got all Pirated up for the Party (I bought my special pink Mickey Pirate ears just for the party!) we hopped a bus to the Magic Kingdom. We had a 4 pm ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern for a meal fit for a
! This restaurant has become a must-do tradition for us every trip. Weve yet to have a bad meal here (knock-on wood
) & the character interaction there is some of the best weve had (I REALLY recommend going right at opening before the restaurant is full for the best interaction.) This night was definitely no different delicious food & fun characters.
Does this happen to anyone else with Pluto's whiskers?! LOL:
After our 4 pm dinner, we still had a couple hours to kill before the pillaging would begin.
We walked back up Main Street & saw them setting up some of the special banners/effects for the party. This was actually the Premier Night for this party, so we hadnt heard much about it, but after the wonderful time we had during MNSSHP in October, we were very excited to attend!
When we walked down by the castle to get our wristbands, treasure maps & black velvety treasure bags for the party, they had this set-up for pictures:
Walking along Adventureland, they had these huge skulls set-up:
We took a picture of each of us by one & one of the Disney Dream Team members saw us & came over to take a picture of both of us by one. It was very sweet, but you shouldve heard my heart pounding!!! LOL I SO wanted to get some cool wish granted, but alas, she was just being a kind Disney CM taking our picture.
We got on several rides before the party since we figured that once the party actually started, thered be so much going on that we wouldnt really spend much time on the rides. As we are walking out of Pirates, we realize it is POURING!!!
Now, we both watched the weather forecast numerous times in the room that afternoon & Mr. Weatherman had assured us that all rain showers had moved past.
Being that it was January, rain isnt really all that frequent not like the daily storms in September that were used to. So, needless to say we left our Mickey Ponchos in the room for the evening
We tried to wait out the rain for awhile in the Pirates shop (along with hundreds of other people with the same idea
) but decided it was worth the few bucks to buy yet another set of Mickey ponchos & start enjoying the Party. One of the coolest things about the special event parties are all the fun characters you can get your picture with. At the Pirate & Princess Party, most of the characters are dressed up as
you guessed it
Pirates or Princesses! Over in Adventureland near the Magic Carpet ride we ran into Aladdin, Genie & Abu (who Id never seen before!):
