Started Packing!!

Hi everyone,

sorry its been so long had lots going on and haven't had the time to log on!!!

Anyhow as promised here are the photo's of the moment I told Cameron that we were going to DLP.... I had wanted to wait until we got there, but she started to panic when we got to the airport, she didn't know what was going on bless her, so I told her... here's her reaction...

This is when I very first told her,, she was quite angry with me because she thought I was pulling her leg!!!

This is her beginning to realise that I was being serious.

and finally she believes!!!!!

She had a great time, even though I was not impressed with the hotel, but that's a different story!

Hope everyone else had/has great trips

awww im so jealous!
ive just arrived home from disney last night i wish im still there.
for clothes and weather..take alot of winter clothes with you because its pretty cold in the mornings and nights. not so much in the afternoon

Once it had sunk in where we were going, she went mad at me saying that I should have told her because she told her friends she would be playing out later on.... can't win

Well I know there are a lot of Santa Fe fans here, so I don't want to upset anyone, but, I thought the whole place was awful, the buildings were soul-less places and the so called Volcano just looked like somewhere where the building contractors had dumped building waste, covered it up and stuck a volcano sign on it.

But all this I could put up with as I was only there for 3 days, what I couldn't put up with was the state of the room, the bedcovers had white crusty stains on them,,, couldn't bare to think what those actually were I rang housekeeping to ask if they could replace the covers and was told that I had to walk down to the main reception, which I did and told them and was assured that I would get clean ones,,, this NEVER happened, despite me reminding them on 3 occasions!
I couldn't use most of the drawers as they had no handles on them, just screws sticking out,,, the bathroom tiles were covered in black mould and the final straw was....

The evening before we checked out, we had come back from the parks,, my feet were killing me so I decided to have a bath instead of a shower... well when I emptied the bath, it didn't go down the drain like it should have done, but flooded the bathroom and part of the bedroom, soaking my clean clothes which I had stupidly put on the bathroom floor.

I tried to phone reception, but guess what,, the phone was no longer working so i trailed down there again, asked to see the manager only to be told that he was too busy to speak to me!!!! The CM said that she would get someone to meet me back at the room and I should wait there. 2 hours later, still no one had arrived so I had to go back to reception and tell them that we had reservations at Cafe Mickeys in 30 mins and I wasnt going to miss it. They assured me that it would be sorted by the time I got back.
When I did get back that night, the bathroom floor had been mopped but not the soaking carpet, the whole room stank. Had it not been my last night I would have asked to change rooms, but I'd had enough I just wanted to go home

Sorry that was a bit of a rant wasn't it!!!!
needless to say it has put me off going again and in future I will stick to Florida

Not at all... It does sound like a bad experience..... You should write a letter of complaint about that sort of treatment....

I can assure you this isn't commonplace at DLRP.... I hope you give it another chance sometime!

So glad you have a good trip, even with all the problems about the hotel. We are planning our first (and probably only) trip to DLRP in a couple of years, and with the exchange rate what it is, we will probaly have to opt for the Santa Fe. As is typical, you can hear and both and bad reports, but yours seems to be among the worst, especially when the management would not even discuss it with you.

I'm just hoping that this is not the usual experience guests have when there are problems with their rooms.

I've just read your update Traci - you should definitely put in a letter of complaint to DLRP. Thats not the normal standard of room or service at the Santa Fe, and even if it is the cheapest onsite hotel, you are still entitled to have clean linen, working furniture and phones, and a clean, functional bathroom. To have all of these things happen to you, its no wonder at all you've been put off!

I agree the outside theming of the Santa Fe is not really worth a mention, but I've always had a lovely clean room and bathroom there, with everything in full working order, and I'd be complaining straightaway if I didn't.

I hope you get a satisfactory response to your complaint (when you get around to sending it ).
