and need as much support as I can get. Any tips for induction would be greatly appreciated. How did you cope with the sweet cravings etc.... ?

Holly

Congratulations, Holly!

You're on your way to a healthy new lifestyle. :)

The first few days may be kind of rough, but if you can stay strong for a few days, the cravings should all but disappear. I have to remind myself to eat now.

Good luck to you! :)

If you are craving seewts or food- eat cheese or meat and then if it is still abd- eat some sugar free jello. It will pass in a few days- so just hold on until then. You will be so surprised once you get through it that you have NO appetite! Good luck.... and post if your gonna lose it! Many understand and will respond to help you through it!

My best advice for cravings.....drink your water. When you get a craving for anything that's not part of this way of eating, get a BIG glass of water and drink it all. If you still want it...get another glass. Given enough time, the craving WILL pass...and when it does you've downed one or two of your required glasses of water. The water in your tummy will also help you feel full and that will help lessen cravings until these tough few days are over.

Good luck...and keep us posted. YOU CAN DO THIS!! ;)

Remember to try & get as close to your 20 carbs per day, without going over. Your body needs those 20 carbs to keep its metabolism up. You will lose faster that way.

During induction, you can eat meat, eggs, cheese, and 1 salad a day (with real salad dressing). Your 20 carbs should come from the salad veggies and the small amount of dressing.

The first 2 week induction period is the hardest. But, stick with it - and you will have great results! After those first 2 weeks, you can relax a bit and start adding in a few more carbs in the form of more veggies, berries, nuts, and legal treats like sugar free chocolate bars, atkins bars, etc.

Good luck! We're right here with you! :) :)

so much for all your support and tips. I am on these boards everyday and will most definately keep you all informed of my progress.

Thanks again

Welcome Holly!

Atkins is very easy to stick to, and the results are great!
You will be amazed.

good luck!

Got through my first day yesterday with not many problems at all. Not suffering from any side affects other than cravings.

I'm drinking lots of water, especially when I have a craving (as suggested, thanks).

Had a great big bacon and egg breakfast this morning and feel satisfied for now.

Because I live in the UK and the food industry haven't caught on yet re: Atkins, I have a few problems with certain things like aspertane in sugar free foods. Aspertane from previous experience, plays havoc with my weight loss.

Holly

Welcome Holly, I don't do Atkins, so I can't help with that side of things. I live in the UK and I know that we are supposed to be getting a lot of Atkins products over here soon. So hopefully that will help you.

The first few days on Atkins can be rough. When you are hungry then eat. Eat a little bit of protein with a little bit of fat ( don't forget to add the fat).

Just remember that you can do this. All of your WISH friends are going to help you. We're always here for you.
