I did a book on iPhoto! DH upgraded iPhoto and there are lots more choices for books (now they have soft cover) and the prices are lower. So I was fooling around with our OKW pics, and when I was done I hit "Buy" and it will be here next week! It's 28 pages - 59 photos - for $30!

I'm comparing the costs of scrapbooking vs. the costs of printing a book from iPhoto - and think that in the long run it will be less expensive to use iPhoto. Can I do it? Can I take the plunge - sell all my scrapping stuff and just use the cold, hard computer to preserve my memories? It's such a time-saver, and a space-saver too! What to do? What to do? :confused3

Both!

Let us know how it turns out - I'd love to see the results. I'm a working mom of 2 and I have to get up at 5:30 am to have 30 minutes of scrapbooking time before my babies wake up! Don't feel guilty - a computer generated book is better than a drawerfull of pictures that nobody ever looks through!

Please let us know how it looks in person. I've got the older version of iPhoto on my Mac. Dd played a little bit with it in an Apple Camp class this summer, but I've never known anybody who actually made and ordered a book. I'm interested in finding out.

Not that I'm going to give away or sell my supplies or anything....

I'd love to see the end results if you could post them. This is something I would certainly consider to use to supplement my scrapping, but I just couldn't quit completely.

I asked DH to help me post the book - the version on iPhoto should be easy enough to post - I'll find a way. (ETA- nope, not so easy. I will have to wait until the book gets here).

I did a book with the old iPhoto for my older bro - They only had hardcovers then and it ended up costing over $70. And there were only 3 or 4 designs. Lots more designs now. And lots more price options.

Edited to add links: I figured Apple was not the only place to make photo books, so I quick checked around. Iphoto is just where my photos are so it's immediate gratification. This just may become my new obsession!

WOW, interesting. I'm curious as to the quality when you get it too. Cool!

One of my friends does this all the time. I think it is a good idea for certain pictures but I still would want to scrap!
Maybe if you find this helps with the stress factor or getting your books together you could think about what pictures you actually enjoy working on the most. THen concentrate on them to scrap.
This is kind of what I am doing but instead of an album I am doing photo CD's to music. Slide shows. I only print and scrap the pictures I love and think have meaning in our lives. Then I make a CD of everything else. I do a pretty cover and then my plan is to make a pocket in the album that the pictures would have gone in and pop the CD in.

Ooh! A photo slide show is a great idea. We made one for a Christmas gift this past year for the family. A mixture of movies and photos. That's my DHs hobby....he is supposed to be getting more involved in that (not just last minute christmas gift type thing!) And I love adding it to the scrapbook.

I'm actually thinking long term. I have 25 12x12 albums that have a home - but if I keep going I will need a home for all the future ones. The computer generated books will take up less space and fit on an bookcase (I've had trouble finding bookcases that fit 12x12 albums). And then there is the space issue regarding all the scrapbooking materials - I could free up a whole closet for - well, I'm not sure yet, but something. Not mention regain the dining room table.

I don't know - it's a tough decision. And no going back. But I'm currently still scapbooking backwards, so I have time to decide. These days there are just so many options!
