To be honest with you I would rather be at the POP...We went to look at the AKL after we made the ressies and we were not impressed. I tried to change to a value or even a mod but there is absolutely no availability that first weekend? I have been checking everyday and calling too. I am just about ready to cancel and make a ressie offsite. We originally were to be there for 6 days but due to missed school being sick we not take our DD out of school any more days. So we now will just be there 2 days and would just rather put that $ away for a future trip when we can stay longer. Who knows maybe we will get lucky and a room onsite will open up? Have a GREAT trip!!!

We weren't even there for the parade, but we saw them singing on the float and just so happened to be standing by big gates next to that Tony's Pizza place, and the stars exited their floats and went out that gahte, we got some handshakes and some got autographs. My DD9 is getting so excited to get there! We have had to shroten our trip to just 2 days due to her missing school from being sick but we can not wait to get there. I'm a little hesitant with sitting and watching the filming of the parade. We have a 3 yo as well and I know she is not going to want to sit that long. Hopefully we will get to see some Disney stars and it will make DD9 whole YEAR!!!

My DGS loves Hannah Montana and informed me she'll be taping that week. Oh, teenie bopper puppy love...I'm just not ready to watch this yet. I don't know if this is true or where he found that info. He wanted to harrass me because I talked our "Gathering" out of going during that week and waiting until the following week for our trip.

Not sure what celebs will be there. But make sure your kids know what they're getting into it. It actually gets pretty boring. Your talking like 6 hours of standing up and not even getting to view the entire parade. They tape it in sections and film the same sections of the parade over and over and over again. Not trying to sound mean, I just know that my first time at the parade taping was not what I expected So you might want to let your daughter know what to expect. I hope you guys have a great time though and I wish you guys lots of luck in seeing the celebs you want!!

I have to second this. Not to spoil anyone's fun, but, just be prepared. I think with many things, if you are exciting, thinking it's going to be a great time, and then it's not so great, you are miserable. Just keep it in perspective. Remember, it may be fun for the first hour but after that, you're going to start really getting bored, and almost neglected and used. I say that laughingly but it's true. After a while you start thinking "I'm standing around here all morning, wasting my vacation time, and they're just using me without any regard for me, and I'm using the time I've paid for in the parks to do it."

Well that's what I thought last year, so I happily avoided it this year.

I arrive in disney on Dec 3 and would love to start my trip out with a trip to Mk but wondering if they will still be taping the parade? what time does it go from and to ? It wont be till around 1 that we get to mk . If I enter are we stuck on mainstreet if they are doing the parade or will we be able to go through the shops and go to another land? Please let me know just finalizing plans.

Looking up the celebs in their territory online is probably your best bet. I go to the taping every year and those that commented on the boredom are right. They will start the taping on friday and continue for both sat & sun. When you get down there you should be able to get a list of who will be there from guest relations (they've had it in the past) but they won't tell when they will be there. The cast members have to keep quiet just like if a celeb is visiting. Have to protect privacy. Regis and Kelly will be the easiest to find and are obvious by where the small stage with 2 chairs is . They should be there late morning on sat.

For those who have a morning invite, you will probably be "extras". The producers will put you where they need to have happy disney familes and you should be on TV This has been the case in the past with the invites. Just be prepared to be there a LOOOONNNNGGG time. lol! It is a production of a tv show and they will do take after take until they have the image that they want.

Also,those who want to see regis and kelly. For most of the time their mics are not turned on to the disney sound sysytem and they sit there doing promo spots for local stations around the country. Its pretty much just standing there watching them with no sound. lol! But you can get some great pictures. And regis gets pretty entertaining as the day goes by and production takes forever. He yells things at the crowd and gets all "irritated" when we make a big deal about kelly. lol! For me they are the only part I go to. If my Lisa Marie Presley were ever there I'd stay all day lol!! But the others just aren't worth the wait. jmo

Lastly, those hoping to avoid the craziness alltogether should go off disney for those days. They do segments of the parade in all four parks. Theres no escape!!

OMG...you are so AWESOME! We have decided to NOT tell DD9 who will be there just in case she does not get to see them. But she will die if she sees Hannah Montana!
DD3 would love to see the Doodlebops!! I really hope we do get to see some of the stars it would really make our trip so much more wonderful. Just being there will be great but I know my girls and this would just be too GREAT for them!

I have a reservation to go at 7am on 12/2, here is my question: I am going w/ my almost 2 year old dd and my parents............I can bring a dvd player and snacks to help w/ my dd, but if my parents get tired of standing after 3-4 hours or my dd has a major "meltdown" can we leave??? How does this work??

I would like to know before we go, and if it is not going to work cancel our reservation so maybe someone else can take our place!

Someone said that even if you go to other parks on Friday and Saturday you won't be able to "escape" the parade taping. That is not true! We were there in 2004 and didn't go to MK on Friday or Saturday. We went to Epcot one day and AK and MGM the next and didn't see any taping whatsoever. It was just like a regular day at Disney at those parks. I never saw any celebrities the whole time we were there, or any signs of taping. It was the perfect time to go to Disney. Great weather, no crowds and no lines! SO my advice, stay away form MK Friday and Saturday and you will be fine.

ABC will be filming its Christmas Special on Saturday, November 11th at Disneyland Park, and December 1 at WDW, this will include "A Christmas Fantasy Parade" hosted, once again, by Ryan Seacrest.

To add to that, this is for the Walt Disney World Christmas Parade which airs Christmas morning on ABC.
