Cool. I think its sad the manager at my fav Starbucks knows me, and knows exactly how heavy I like my caps. I never said a word about my drinks, but apparently, I smile really big when its the right weight, like I got a prize or something. You have a favorite summer drink? Mine is just the largest green tea, iced, no sweetener they'll sell me.

My favorite summer drink is raspberry passion tea lemonades. I also like starberry lemonade slushes but those are a little harder to make. Not sure how many baristas still know how to make that one as it takes some workibf with. When you get it to be the right straberry purée, lemonade, ice mix it is perfection in the summer.

My go to energy drink that (unfortunately :( ) is high in sugar is the Starbucks Doubleshot with white mocha instead of classic and breve instead of 2%. 5 shots of espresso plus sugar = heaven.

Do you like wet or dry caps? (Heavy or light)

Wet. I said previously, my go-to is a venti skinny wet cap with and extra shot of espresso. One of the local places I used to go to always had to correct me and then give me a latte - which wasn't what I wanted, so I started telling them, light foam. Flipping hipsters. Anyhow, I've never even had my fave iced. I should really branch out. Raspberry passion tea lemonade sounds great and not too sweet. When they made my unicorn of unicorns they mentioned making it was strawberry puree, but that, with lemonade and ice sounds awesome!

MY hairstylist said if confusion had a flavor these unicorn drinks would be it. Her tween DD, OTOH, LOVED it. That tells me all I need to know. Skipping this one.

Can't get past this. Not something that will ever enter my body.

1. 60 grams of sugar. 60. The AHA suggests no more than 37.5 grams of added sugar men and 25 for women. This one drink has 60.
2. It's got mango, so my wife can't drink it.

DH went out and got my daughter one last night - she is SUPER into unicorns and was wearing a unicorn dress yesterday. She drank about 1/4 of it; I tasted it and thought it was awful, but I don't like sweet drinks.

I read it has 76 grams of sugar.

I don't go to Starbucks but DD likes their vanilla bean frap. She'll probably beg me for one of these this week. I'll let her try ONE.

And aren't they calling it the unicorn drink because each person makes it different so it takes different every time? Someone on my IG had 5 already and she said they all tasted completely different.

I tried it yesterday. I was determined to drink it for what I paid for it. I couldn't. It was terrible. I got maybe a quarter way through and gave up.

That describes almost every Starbucks drink ever though. Really. Every time I change my drink I have to ask how much syrup they put in the new one- and then cut it down to like 1/6 the actual recipe. Even their ice tea lemondes have an obscene amount of flavoring syrup. I caught one barist putting in both flavoring syrup and simple syrup into my iced coffee last summer because she thought my lowered syrup amount would it render it "undrinkable" because it would taste to much like coffee. Umm...that's why I drink coffee:rotfl2:

That is why I ask for it unsweetened, much better. A Venti Green Iced Tea Shaken Lemonade unsweetened is only 70 calories & 14 carbs. BTW it is really refreshing. Dunks does not have the option for unsweetened so Starbucks it is.

I think that is exactly the market they are going after.

5?!?!:crazy2::scared1:

This both sounds and looks disgusting...way too sweet for me.

Honestly, I am a coffee purist. I only drink strong, black coffee. My go to drink at Starbucks is a Grande Cold Brew, no sweetener or milk. 5 calories and 0 grams of sugar.

It looks disgusting. I wish Starbucks didn't sell these milkshake type drinks.

This. Somewhere along the line Starbucks starting sweetening everything! One day I went to take a sip of my iced coffee and was like WTH?!? I look at the label and see they put 4 pumps of classic syrup in it! Ok, I'm used to having to specify unsweet tea, but unsweet coffee? Come on.

People are going crazy around the amount of sugar in the unicorn frapp, but people talk about drinking frappaccinos all the time. I don't know why the sugar content of this special one is getting so much attention, it's pretty on par with the amount of sugar in most of the frappaccinos.

I love the s'mores frappacino they have over the summer (usually when they do the mini size). Every Friday for the month or two they have it, I get a mini with no vanilla syrup and half chocolate and it still has over 20g of sugar.

The sweeten everything has been around for as long as I was a barista. Not sure why. It was always something hard to teach the consumer because as you say everything assumes coffee comes black as standard and then you add stuff into it. I personally hated that sweetened was standard even as someone who likes it sweet because people who wanted sugar always said light and sweet or sugar and cream or whatever normal coffee terms and people who didn't just ordered it. OF course SBux corporate standard is if you say nothing you get the recipe drink which for ice coffee is pumps of sugar. So many thrown out cups and wasted efficiency to remake or stop and double check over that silly little rule.

On the sugar front Sbux is currently testing extracts instead of sugar. It cuts the content down quite a bit for a lot of the drinks. I also like they they now have liquid cane syrup.

I agree though. If people are going crazy over the content of this frappe where have the been for years? A frappucino has never been healthy for you and was never meant to be an every single day beverage. They are suppose to be treats and it is up to the consumer to patrol themselves. 1 frappucinno here and there isn't going to kill you or make you gain a ton of weight. The problem is people (especially teens) are drinking 1 or 2 ventis a day with all the extra added sugar when they start mixing flavors for specialty blends. That is when you have a problem.

I'm not a sweets person at all. I saw it and thought it was adorably fun. I'd literally never ordered a sweetened drink at my favorite Starbucks, where they know my order, and just ask cap or tea. Same with 2 places I can walk to. I think the general public's reaction is WAY over the top in terms of the nutritional content of the drink. There are worse orders on the menu. Hell, add any number of their baked goods to a straight coffee and you're in trouble if you do it often. Its a very limited time offering, and I think the whole idea is fun and playful.

I also can't believe I'm lobbying for a sweet treat, but it totally made my day yesterday that such frivolity was injected into my mid day errands. I mean, its a UNICORN drink, only if you believe, only for a limited time that changes colors. I thought it was adorable. I think I may be having an identity crisis now from my usual "throw rocks at children" persona. That unicorn drink broke me.
