Starbucks: dark cherry mocha

I had one instead of a full breakfast this morning...a drink and a fruit soy joy bar...

I'd rather allow myself 'small pleasures' here and there (like once a week) than go with out them. If I allow my self to do it occasionally, I don't go crazy with a ton of it and have horrible cravings.

everything is fine in moderation.

If you like it then I think one a day is moderate ;);) Life is short, enjoy yourself!!

Wow, there's no need to be rude and condescending just because you're pregnant. It's not a license to be nasty.

I'm pregnant and I eat crap all of the time. I feel bad about it, but I feel worse if I eat nothing at all. Vegetables make me sick to smell or look at, plain water can induce sicknes at times, and the morning in general is a bad time for me...I've gone through several cereals, sandwiches, cooked items, etc.. Honey smacks (gross, I know) are all that stays down (though I do try to have some fruit at mid-morning if I can stand it!)I've even had a glass of tea here or there. I told DH I felt bad about that. He told me to stop being rediculous!

OP: That drink sounds yummy! I hope you enjoy it! I like some coffee stuff, especially with flavoring like that. I will probably avoid it for now though, since it is likely to give me horrible heartburn, LOL.

Not quite sure what the heck coffee has to do with morning sickness, or the lack thereof,:confused3 but this sounds very tasty. I may have to run by and buy my non-pregnant self a grande full fat version.:thumbsup2

DH & I saw this drink on the menu over the weekend and were overjoyed.

We first encountered Dark Cherry Mocha in Nassau when we took a Disney Cruise in December 2008. It was one of their holiday seasonal drinks. We were so sad when we returned to the states and found out that we couldn't get it here.

I am so glad that Starbucks has decided to offer it here -- it's yummy!!!

I'm pregnant - I won't allow myself to eat crap for breakfast. ;)

:rotfl2:

How cute. Some day junior will get beaten out for admittance to THE college or for THE promotion by some kid whose mom drank coffee and ate M&Ms all through her pregancy. Do your future playgroups mommies a favor and loose the superority :rotfl:

Ok, now I really have to go get myself one of these! Thanks a lot, OP! ;)

(for those pregnant posters...eat what you can, and don't worry too much about it! Everything in moderation! With my first, I ate because "the baby was hungry" :lmao:. With my second, I had gestational diabetes and had to follow the diet. I gotta tell you, I ate so healthy that I lost weight, BUT I felt so deprived and couldn't wait to deliver so I could have something crappy to eat! A little treat now and then isn't going to hurt you if you are healthy to begin with!)

First time parent?

:rotfl:

Out of the way please, speshul snowflake coming through!!!:lmao:

OP: That sounds delish. I usually go for the skinny dolce's or the n/f chai's. Starbucks is expensive so I treat myself about 1x a week.

I'm not pregnant but I did survive raising 3 teenagers so I deserve all the crap I can consume. These things sound delish. I do not drink coffee but I think I'm going to get one of these, fully loaded, with all of the calories and fat grams I can stand.

I think I'm going to have to get one of these soon! :thumbsup2 It sounds yummy.

Now I'm going to have to try one. It sounds wonderful.

I have to do a drive by now to check for one of those craptastic coffees also....thanks OP:yay:

As for the mom to be who was eating healthy...good for you:thumbsup2. I carried three kids practically living on slurpees, sour soothers and ham salad sandwiches and they turned out fine :goodvibes Don't sweat the small stuff:thumbsup2

Garcon!!! I'll have another helping of crepe....I'm mean crap!;)

Just had one of these crappy beverages (before reading this thread)--it was delicious! I ordered the smallest size (tall? I'm not usually a coffee shop person so I can't remember the terminology) and it did get a bit too sweet at the bottom, but I really liked it.

got to try one now....

on a side note, when I was pregnant I used to eat some crappy stuff b/c the baby wanted it... :) Hey, what the baby wants the baby gets! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2
I can't wait for tomorrow!! If I plan my day I can swing by Starbucks by late morning---This drinks sounds divine....and I'm happy you can order it "skinny". Heck, I wonder if I can make it thru the evening?

Who peed in your dark cherry mocha this morning? sheesh!

I'm very glad you haven't had crippling food aversions that cause you to eat whatever you can hold down or think about eating.

I wasn't like that. I burst into tears over a plate of deelish cheese enchiladas because the cheese had gotten just a bit too cold and congealed and I almost hurled. I couldn't enter a grocery store from about the start of the second trimester on because I could smell every single thing that had EVER spilled in that place, and the meat/fish area was too heinous to even think about.

It went on and on. I ate what I could. Despite my best intentions when not pregnant or in early pregnancy (first tri, before it all hit).

What was SUPER fun was when I got THIRD trimester "morning" sickness. Broken blood vessels in my face AND my chest. The food aversions got worse too by then.

Didn't matter one little bit what might have been "crap" or not by then...fetus had to be fed and I preferred to not faint from low blood sugar.

I truly hope nothing like that happens in your pregnancy, but do know that it *could* happen as time marches on. It's HARD to want to eat better but be incapable of doing so (without throwing everything up, which is a waste of food, calories, and money).

Saw the dark cherry mocha on the sign the other day...thought it would be too sweet as well! Might have one in decaf now...took a massive, week-long headache to kick the coffee-caffeine addiction, and I have no interest in it starting back up. Tea-caffeine is much smoother for me, but I'm like a heroin addict when it comes to coffee-caffeine...just one caffeinated drink will get the addiction back! :rotfl:

I was the same way, any little thing would have me running to the bathroom, including many things I have never even noticed before or since my pregnancy. Some of the only things I could keep down were sugary cereal and popcorn. I always joked that DS was made half out of cereal and popcorn. :rotfl2:

I also know what you mean about the caffeine addiction. I sometimes have to get myself off caffeine for a period of time (last time it was over a year), and I would have to be very careful not to have even one caffeinated drink, or it was OVER!

Boy, that makes me feel bad because when I was pregnant with my first all I wanted was frozen pizza.

The kid came out fine.

Don't feel bad, apparently you only need to feel bad if you eat crap for breakfast. I guess that means the other meals are a free-for-all. :thumbsup2
oops, unless you had frozen pizza for breakfast, too? Then you're probably going to he**. :rotfl:

Well I think I am going to have to take a walk down to Starbucks on my break tomorrow. I love white chocolate mocha, and I have a feeling I'm going to love this. Probably too much. :guilty:

I sure hope they do have a skinny version!

(BTW, yay! I finally taught myself how to multi-quote! :thumbsup2)

Did you cook it first? ;)

The mocha is SOOO yummy. I had one last night at Barnes and Nobles. I got the tall and Mom helped me drink it. BOY WAS I AWAKE very quickly.
