Starbucks Cards from Raise

I originally posted this question in another thread but realized it didn't really belong there.

Has anyone purchased a Starbucks GC from Raise? I was going to do it tonight and then noticed that Raise specifically states "do not transfer this card to your personal Starbucks account. Raise is not responsible for cards that are transferred."

Does anyone know why this would be the case? If the GC is valid, there should be no issue transferring it to my account. The whole reason I have an account is to earn stars and "free" drinks.

Any experience with this or insight?

Starbucks has been known to cancel cards to which re-sold GCs have been added.

I've purchased from cardpool and transferred to my account with no problems. I've done it four times now.

That seems odd to me. Aren't they still getting their money?

Is cardpool the same type of site as Raise? Like, people sell their unused gift cards to it so that others may purchase?

I don't ask why. I just know that I've read about it enough times to steer clear of buying Starbucks GCs on resale websites. You'll be fine if you never combine them with another GC or add them to your Starbucks account. But I like the convenience of having them all on a single GC on my phone. Besides, there are so many rewards sites that offer Starbucks GCs for free and Groupon often sells them for half-off. I have no need to purchase any from websites like cardpool or raise.

And yes, cardpool is like raise.

My first purchase of Starbucks GC from raise was nice and smooth. The second time was a nightmare. The first 3 or 4 cards was registered and unable to transfer to my card. Finally got a good one after calls to Raise customer services, and found my Starbucks account frozen after 2 days. Apparently the person called Starbucks at reported it stolen. It was a "courtesy" to give me back my original balance. I had to call Raise for a refund. I have an impression it is a regular occurrence. The rep was like okay and your refund would be process in a few days.

My friend who recommended Raise to me for Starbucks GC never had problems. For me, I don't want to take any chances with my Reward status. No more Raise for me.

Purchase a Target gc on Raise or Carpool (5-10% discount) and then use it to buy an electronic Starbucks gift card on Target's website with your Red Card as the default payment. (an additional 5% off your purchase) Your discount will be bigger and no issues adding it to your account.

Didn't even occur to me to look for SB GC's on Target's website! Thanks!

a way to get around this is to buy a Starbucks gift card WITH a Starbucks card, so this would take the balance off the card purchased off the discount website and give you a "clean" card that no one else has the info for. Starbucks allows this and I have done it multiple times. Extra step, but worth it for the piece of mind if it is for a larger value card.

Unfortunately, the redcard discount isn't showing for me on my Starbucks card purchase. Oh well. Thanks anyway!
