Can we buy discounted Starbucks cards at Sam's Club, put them into my husband's phone app, and then they just scan his phone when he is ready to pay or how does that work? All of the restaurants that sell Starbucks have a Starbucks sign outside right? If it has a Starbucks sign, does that mean that everything they sell there can be paid for with a Starbucks card if we get something besides coffee? He is the only one in the family that drinks it. I am trying to work out a budget and still allow him to have his coffee once in a while. Thanks.

Yes, you can use a Starbucks Gift Card for payment at all of the Starbucks locations at Disney. You can either use the card directly or show a bar code in the Starbucks mobile app. You earn stars (reward points) on purchases at all Disney Starbucks, but can only redeem stars at the Disney Springs locations.

From their terms and conditions “Most Starbucks stores in North America including Puerto Rico accept your Starbucks Card. Certain Starbucks-branded locations may not permit you to use the Starbucks Card for payment, including some airport, grocery and bookstore locations, or stores in Guam. To find out if a store will accept the Starbucks Card as a payment method, please inquire at that store or visit https://www.starbucks.com/store-locator. Any store that lists "Digital Rewards" as one of its amenities is a store that accepts the Starbucks Card.”

I couldn’t find it in the terms but my experience is if location accepts the card you can buy anything other than coffee with it. There may be special merch offers that come out and maybe terms for that specific item exclude it from gift card purchase? IDK exact answer for that piece of your question.

I've always used my Starbucks app to pay for anything sold at the Starbucks locations inside the parks! Even the park specific Starbucks mugs.

I don't drink coffee and DH does not really like Starbucks but I get their gcs from reward sites etc. We get sodas, pastries, snacks, got the plastic tumblers and some little mug ornaments.

I was at WDW in November and tried to use the app at the Starbucks inside AK and HS. I was told at both locations that they do not accept the app for payment and that a physical gift card is needed

I used my Starbucks app at MK, DHS, and AK a few weeks ago, no problems. If you load a gift card onto the app you can use the app to purchase anything in the store. You can get points on your purchase but you can’t use the points to make a purchase.

We use the app in every park without problem. I don’t drink coffee either, but I use “free” gift cards redeemed over the year on cold drink bottles, snacks, Starbucks souvenirs etc. It’s our daily drink purchase. As many posters already mentioned, they do not accept free rewards from the app in-park. They also refused a prepaid Visa card I have on my app. That could only be used in non-park locations (but not at the airport either.:confused3). Perhaps that was the issue?

incidentally, I do tend to keep one hard copy gift card on vacation just in case their scan machines are not cooperating. But never had to use it — overkill on my part.

Yeah it was really weird. They said they didn’t have the proper technology to scan the QR code from the app….

I received a gift card from colleagues for my bday in early Feb and loaded the gift card to my Starbucks app. I used my Starbucks app successfully a few days ago (2/11) at Animal Kingdom's Creature Comforts (Starbucks). Super easy - they literally just scan the barcode while at the register. It's faster than a credit card transaction. As others have mentioned, you get the Starbucks pts. However, you can't redeem Starbucks pts at the parks' Starbucks locations, only Disney Springs.

This is also the case at most Starbucks locations in airports, grocery store locations, and sometimes hotel locations too.
