Just wondering how you like/liked it...Were there flexible hours?

Both my kids will be in school all day for the first time, so i was thinking of maybe getting a part time job but i'm looking to only work while they are in school (thus, the flexible hours/time off)...i hear Starbucks is one of the best companies to work for...anybody have any info to share with me??
Thank you...

I don't work there, or know anyone who does, but my aunt got an application the other day on a wim and it looked like you really had to like coffee and Starbucks, but I can't tell you anything else.

i have a bunch of friends that work/worked there. college students. they all loved it but i hear starbucks is very strict on being late. they were all let go because of being late a few times.

As well they should be. It's irresponsible.

I am interested in working at Starbucks too. They are building one about 5 minutes from my house. I'm just afraid a paraplegic wouldn't be able to reach anything there :(

No info on Starbucks. Just wanted to see if you considered your children's school. The have aide positions, asistants, etc. and you would be off when they are as well.

I want to know about their insurance plans for employees. I heard it is really great. What's covered? How many hours do you have to work to get coverage? Ans how long before it kicks in?

My DS's girlfriend has been working there a little over a year. She qualifies for some benefits, which is highly unusual for a part-time high school student. She also is paid a couple dollars an hour more than he is at his part-time job. She works really hard, though, and says that everyone sometimes gets steam burns on their arms.

DS's GF obviously is not scheduled during school hours, so I would think there would be a place for employees who wanted to work ONLY during school hours.

Did you know that they get a free bag of coffee every week? I can't remember the last time I paid for a bag!

My DS has been working for about 2 years now at the Atlantic City Starbucks and really likes it. He went for the benefits and only needs to work 20 hrs per week to qualify. He took the best plan and pays about $65.00 every 2 weeks. It is a great company to work for and the discounts he gets are good. 30% all year and 40% for a week in November. Also, a pound of free coffee a week. He's met a lot of people and will continue to work there part time even after he gets a teaching job(soon we hope).

That's so cool about the free coffee you've been getting! BTW, this chick sounds like a keeper. Be sure to encourage your DS to stay with her :rotfl:

Thanks very much to all that replied...
