Starbucks ALSO replacing Fountainview?!?!

yes, complete takeover of the brand... i heard they are now going to replace the new POTC mermaids with the Starbucks mermaid. Under The Sea is now going to be sponsored by Starbucks and they are going to sing "Under the Coffee... " Mickey Mouse is now be referred to as Coffee Mouse.

Dole, Kodak, Sharpie, GM, Siemens, blah blah blah.... all in the world and none have "taken over the brand itself"
I know your kidding, but can you not see the Dad in the last Carousel of Progress scene holding a Starbucks mug?

Now you're just talking crazy!!!!You want to remove a store that allows you to come in at any time and drink soda samples from different countries,no more smart soda,no more making people try Beverly as a joke and snapping pics of them as they swallow, can you say lunacy, people love that place.

Yes. :rotfl2: I know people love it but I just don't get it. Now put a Fourbucks in there and I'll buy something.

This is ridiculous. Thanks to all the people who complained about having no coffee, this is what we get.

That's OK w/me. I haven't like the Fountainview since they switched over to ice cream. I used to love to sit there with a cup of coffee and watch the fountain. Now i can do that again

YES! Except it was delicious Illy coffee before...But it's still better than what it is now! We haven't set foot in there since it became the Edy's ice cream shop.

I'm glad it's coming to Epcot but wish they'd replace Club Cool instead. That's just a big Coke store. I don't get it. :confused3

Whaaaaaat?!!!!!! Blasphemy!!!! Club Cool rocks, even though Ice Station Cool was wayyy more awesome!!

They should have put Barnie's Coffee in there instead of Starbucks.Barnie's is originally from Orlando, there used to be a lot more stores but Starbucks bought many of them several years ago, changed them to Starbucks and now you can only find a few dozen independent Barnie's stores in certain areas,Orlando being one of them.My family all agreed the coffee was better at Barnie's and it's not as common a brand as Starbucks that's on every corner.A perfect example of why I rather see a Barnie's there instead of Starbucks would be Earl of Sandwich, the Downtown Disney location was the first one so many people identify it as something Disney, now they're in several areas so if you've eaten at one of the other ones when you visit the DTD location it wouldn't be as big a deal.If you were to put a brand like Barnie's in the Disney parks which is just as good and likely better than Starbucks it would be more unique to tourists who've never been to a Barnie's store and would identify it as something Disney which Barnie's would like as they would like to expand their brand and compete with Starbucks.I know my reasoning for wanting a Barnie's in Disney may sound insane but Starbucks got old for me a while ago, when there was a Barnie's near me I would go to Starbucks and Barnie's a couple times a week, but when they closed Barnie's eventually I just got tired of what they have at Starbuck's and now I just stopped going altogether. There's Starbucks in Universal,Sea World has a bakery that has Starbucks coffee, now Disney,I just want something different and unique,I have like 5 Starbucks stores within a 10 minute drive of my house.

...don't feel enlightened...but my central nervous system just did a major backflip. :rotfl2: Enjoy your 15 cups of coffee... :rotfl::lmao:

Many people (including me) don't believe it will be a 'complete takeover.' They are not going to take your average Starbucks and stick it into these two locations. Yes, these places will be closed for a few months and are undergoing a major refurb and they will be changed, but probably not as drastically as some think.

Here's what they did in DCA - Starbucks was incorporated into a new bakery/cafe they added to the new Buena Vista Street:

I think it will be along the same lines as that. Still themed to the location, Disney treats (and hopefully ice cream) still available, and only limited Starbucks signage.

Thanks for answering my question...the photos look great. ;) The way it was posted on FB sounded like a complete makeover/takeover.

...but I still can't get away from the fact that this could possibly be a new business strategy for Disney - allowing mainstream vendors to set up permanent business within the parks. And at what expense...

To me, this is vastly different from an attraction sponsorship.

I know McD was once at the back of Frontierland in a stand-alone snack cart, but they just sold fries/drinks. Hardly a brand moving in taking up permanent residency...

Restaurantosaurus in Animal Kingdom also had McDonald's,I believe they had burgers, fries, chicken mcnuggets, happy meals. At the refreshment port in Epcot they sold mcnuggets, fries and Mcflurries, and of course there was also the DTD McDonalds which I never found unique to be in a location like DTD so when they closed it I never shed a tear, there's one 3 minutes away just across 535 in the Crossroads shopping center.

We got a kick out of the soda machines in the DTD McDonald's. Those were certainly unique.

I hate to admit it but McD's was better to DS than the park burgers. We normally went once during a trip to let DS have his fix.

DCA looks fantastic! I'm excited...especially since I saw my favorite Frappuccino's will be offered! Now I won't have to wait for our visit to Universal to get my Starbucks! :cool1: :tink:

I'm excited too! At DCA it doesn't look out of place at all. I have faith that they will make it blend in at WDW too.

We loved stopping there in the morning for a coffee and a pastry before it was ever an ice cream shop.
I'm happy about this news and I bet many more are too.

You are correct, I haven't set foot in Fountain View since the day I walked in and saw nothing but ice cream. Not crazy about CharBuck$ but it beats ice cream.
