Star Wars Weekends ??

I am so excited for this.
Now, keep in mind, I don't like Star Wars. Have never watched a whole movie, only know a few of the characters.
My kids LOVE it. They eat, breathe and sleep the stuff!
We are surprising them with a trip to do the SWW. They have no idea. I can barely keep myself from telling them!
The last day of school, we are going to go out to dinner to celebrate summer vacation. Inside their happy meals will be their magical express tag! (trust me, we have taken them enough - they know what those tags mean!)
I just can't WAIT for them to find out!
At least I can come here and be excited!

Hope you guys have a great trip!!!!!

This is our 2nd year going to SWW. We are all fans but DS has to be the biggest. He made it to the final question in the Padawan Mind Challenge last year......he reads Star Wars dictionaries for fun...:rotfl: . If he is on the lap top and says, "mom come look at this" it's either going to be Star Wars related or an animal. We will be at SWW on June 6th.

I've seen a rumor floating around that this is the last SWW at Disney. Anyone have any info on that?????

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the posters. I was beginning to wonder about planning and needed tomake my ADR's next week.

You can always find great info here at the DIS!!:cool1:

What a neat way to surprise them. We are doing a surprise trip ourselves. We were planning on doing SWW on Sunday june 7th. Does anyone know which day (fri, sat, or sun) is better crowd wise or is there even a best day? I imagine Fridays would be bad because they are also showing Fantasmic! :confused3 Any opinions on that?

Ditto!! (except I am a HUGE fan!!!) DS will find out at his bday party in June that he and I are leaving 3 days later for WDW and SWW.

Question about ADR's and the Hoopla for those who have gone before:

We are going 6/14 (the last day) and DHS is open until 8pm. I need to make ADR's next week and am not sure what time to make a dinner ADR. I know in the past the Hoopla was at 7pm, but do the DHS restaurants take ADR's after 7:30pm  (Probably the Sci Fi, if that matters) I don't want to miss it by making it earlier either.... Help me Obi Wan Kenobi's ;) :lmao:

Oh, I should mention...
It's eat at MickeyDs, then get on the plane!
I will have their suitcases in the car before they get home.
I think I am going to explode! I am NOT a good secretkeeper!
And I am sorry that I hijacked this thread...:rolleyes1

We'll be there that weekend! We booked the 4/3 for that week.
Does anyone know if I should plan to be at DHS all 3 days, or will that just be too much?
My sons are 8 and 6.
I've already decided that we can only try for Jedi Training 3or4 times per day. It's silly to just hang around there all day waiting for it.

For the Jedi Training I would recommend trying the first one in the morning, the good thing about the Academy during SWW is that they pick more kids because they fight not only Darth Vader but also Darth Maul, so it's double the capacity.
Oh I am so glad I found this thread! We are going in June and my DS has recently become a huge Star Wars fan. I was debating going during SWW but seeing this just confirms that we have to go. My DS loves Darth Maul, more so than Darth Vader, and will be thrilled to fight him. I think I'll keep that little tidbit a secret though.

I would play it by the first day experience, go your first day and then if you think (or your kids want to) then go a second day. I think you can do everything in 2 days, that's including celeb autograph, just remember you have to get there very early for a FP to get them. If not interested in celebs, you can get there at 8:30 to see the stormtroopers on top of the entrance and then head straight for the Jedi Academy, maybe a couple of characters after that, the parade, more characters, if interested the celebs Q&A, more characters and then Hoopla. Remember that if your ids want to do the Padawan Mind Chalenge you have to sign them up first thing in the morning at the Info Desk.
As I said before, this is my opinion based on the schedule from years past. Have fun, and MTFBWY ;)

I 2nd the signing up early for the Padawan Mind Challenge. We were in the group that went in early and waited at the next rope to get into that area. By the time we got to the table DS was like #15 in the 2nd round (that is the one we preferred over the morning schedule). He did not have to be in line with me to sign up. They went and rode Star Tours while I was signing him in.

does anyone know if the hoopla can start at 7:00 again this year when the park closes at 7:00? we have dinner ressies at 7:00 and will change them if it is possible/probable that the hoopla will be going on at park end.
thanks,
kim

For those that have seen the SW parade in the morning - how long is it (ie 15 min, 30 min etc)?

DH and I are pretty excited to attend our first SWW, mostly because DS3 is such a SW freak even at his young age. He has an absolutely precious Obi-Wan Kenobi costume that DMIL made for him last Halloween so it will be fun to have him wear that :)

I'm not sure, I'll look at my video. It was pretty long. There were the SW characters that are Disney employees....the 501st group (there are lots and lots and lots of them) and the Rebel Alliance group (I hope that's right) there are also a good many of these. Plus the special daily guests and floats with Jedi Mickey, Darth Goofy, Leia Minnie, and Storm Trooper Donald. It's really a great parade!!!!

Star Wars weekends are just awesome if you are a fan!!! I hear a lot about fans that are boys...well here are some of my daugther (and neice) who has always been a HUGE fan!!! Good times are had by ALL! :woohoo:

thanks for the pics. Someone earlier asked about the morning parade? Is there a different parade in the morning than in the afternoon? do they still do the regular DHS 3:00 parade that is on the calendar?

Yes. There is the Star Wars parade (if I remember correctly) it runs from the area at the park entrance back toward Star Tours and the cast fill the Jedi Training Academy stage.

Then the regular parade will run at it's scheduled time during the day.

On the website that someone posted earlier, they said that your child HAD to be in line with you to get a wrist band to participate in the Padawan Mind Challenge - is that not the case?

I'd like for me & DS (the major SW freaks) to hurry ahead to the SW stuff while DH (the minor SW freak) signs DS up for the PMC.
