We will be there last week of May, and are to leave for home Friday morning, but I am considering staying til Saturday to possibly attend a day of HS Star Wars weekend. Comments please?
Kids are 13 and 9, and both are Star Wars fans, but not fanatics.

eh.. if yer not a fanatic, probly not worth it. I am a fanatic so it's a treasure trove for me.

We are also fans but not fanatics and we really enjoy SWW. It is pretty cool to see the characters wandering the park and there is a lot of exclusive merchandise available. I say go for it:thumbsup2

let me elaborate a little why..
Lines to meet and greets will be long!
line for the merchandise area will be long!
A lot of the special shows are first come first serve.
So unless you're devout die-harder, you kind of wonder does it makes sense to do it.
Yes there are roaming characters but most of them if yer not in the know won't know who they are.

ALSO! Alot of the key things done ultilizes fastpass. problem is the fastpass machines are setup outside the entrance, so unless yer there early, chances are they'll run out real quick.

I am not much of a fan (only seen 2 SW movies), but went last Memorial Day with my nephew who is a fan. I thought it was fun. The parade was fun to watch, the speakers were very interesting and there were lots of small "shows" of storm troopers on roof tops, characters walking around, characters coming out into the audience of different events and play acting, that sort of thing. I didn't feel like it was overly crowded to get into the events, no more than a normal Disney attraction like Fantasia, parade, etc. My nephew and his friend were in heaven.

If your kids are SW fans, then definitely try to do it at least once. Will you have another day in your trip to visit DHS? Could you move your flight home to Friday afternoon/evening instead of morning so maybe you just spend Friday morning at DHS and leave after the SW parade, which would be around noon? It is fun to walk around and see all the characters, look in the shops (we didn't experience any lines to get into the shops on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend last year), and see the parade. Yes, the character lines are long, but it's still cool to see them all decked out in their SW gear even if you don't stand in line for a pic and autograph. If you think you can swing it without too much difficulty, then I don't think you'd regret it. Who can complain about spending more time at WDW?? :rotfl:

I'm not a huge fanatic and I enjoyed myself last year. Some of my favorite pictures I took were of the Star Wars characters. I say go for it.

Thanks for the input. I think we will try to do it for first half of the day, and see what happens. The kids can decide if we stay the rest of the day.

It is awesome...

Even if you could not get in a single line for anything it would be worth it...

We have pictures with tons of character and they are some of our favorite of all time. Very much worth it...

There is an extra parade that is nive to see as well..

I have attended SWW most years since 2003. I am not an autograph hunter or super geek but I like Star Wars well enough. I'll be there the first weekend which I know will be beyond crazy since the new Star Tours attraction opens. I like spectacle so all is OK. You have to be there for SW or you will get frustrated.

I watch the SW parade around 11 am or so, then attend the SW stars talk show, the Clone Wars talk show, the Behind the Show movie and finally, the 7 pm closing hoopla. So, that's 5 events over 8 hours interspersed with Studios attractions as I can fit in.

All the real craziness involves two things: 1- getting autographs. You have to get Fast Passes at the gate before the park even opens. Lines form 2 hours before park opening. If you skip this activity, the rest of the day is great. 2- getting kids to be part of the Jedi Training Academy stage show. This is a real chore and fraught with despair if you fail to negotiate the first-come first-enrolled lines and sign-up times. If you don't have to do this, the day is much easier.

So, you can enjoy the spectacle or you can be frazzled beyond belief. It all depends on your goals.

Hi Guys,

i think the idea is that you dont have to be a complete fanatic to enjoy star wars weekends. some of the character meet and greets are brillaint the parade they do for star wars is brill and also alot of merchandise for the franchise.

i noticed that some of the star wars weekend stuff was aimed at younger kids especially the clone wars series.
i think you will have a blast if you attend.
