star wars weekends - sunday night?

my DH and i are arriving at WDW on sunday, may 6th and staying for 5 days. our plan on our arrival day is to go to epcot and eat lunch at le cellier and spend the afternoon at epcot. we we were then going to go to DTD that evening. my DH is a HUGE star wars fan. we have park hopper passes and i'm wondering if instead we should go by MGM that evening to check out star wars weekends. is it worth it even if we only go for a couple of hours? MGM closes at 8:30 that night so i'm not sure if we'd have enough time to really see anything special that we wouldn't see during the week. any advise would be appreciated! thanks!

Star Wars Weekend is a lot of fun for SW lovers. I would try to go earlier in the day, maybe even reschedule lunch at Epcot if possible. There are storm troopers walking about, SW music being played, special events such as trivia games, special parade, but most everything takes place earlier in the day than the hour or so before closing. Well worth it if you can find the time.

Another option, depending on when you're leaving, is to go the following Friday at opening.

You probably wouldn't have time to do all that much considering the parades and shows will probably be during the day. They do have characters that walk around the park which was cool. Just remember the Star Wars events are only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They even only bring out the Star Wars weekends merchandise on Fridays. So that may be the only time you can see any of it.

A bunch of us are speculating on another thread the tentative dates for SWW. Some seem to think it will only be held in June this year. Even if that rumor is not true, SWW has historically started the third weekend in May so I doubt that SWW will be going on when you are there on the 6th.

That may not even be a date for Star Wars weekend.

We were there for the first day of SWW last year, & that was Friday May 19.

grrrrr. i was under the impression that the entire month of may had star wars weekends. and now i rearranged my schedule so we can go to MGM all day sunday. oh, well!!!
