Wouldn't be surprised if they just don't do it ever again. Star Wars is going to have a very large presence in DHS in a few years. Then add in the season of the force events I very well think SWW could be gone forever.Wouldn't be surprised to see them canceled for the next few years.
Sorta like the Festival of the Masters.
However Disney never really said its done forever they said its just gone due to construction.just announced today....it's not just cancelled this year but going away forever according to the Orlando Sentinel....

The Disney Parks Blog release didn't say that though. This is a quote of the first line from the OS article "Disney's Hollywood Studios will not be offering its annual Star Wars Weekends any more, Walt Disney World reported Monday."
Im putting on my flame retardant suit. But Im kind of glad it's going away. For me I don't mind star wars but I don't need to go and see the guy who was the third key grip in the third movie when his brother called in sick and get his autograph. I love going to WDW in May, the weather is great, mothers day flower and garden. I don't love the crowds that come with Star Wars weekends and we try to leave as it starts.
Im sure it will come back in some capacity once construction is completed but for now it's not a horrible thing that its going away for a bit. Flame me if you like, I loved Star Wars when I was 5 ( the original release) I asked to be called Princess Leia for like a year but there is only so much of it I can take.

The "stars" from the movies that come to the events are nothing like what you are describing. Regarding crowds, we did not find HS attractions impacted while we were there for SWW. The SW events were busy, but the impact on the rest of the rest park was minimal.Im putting on my flame retardant suit. But Im kind of glad it's going away. That would be us. I guess they just found out that they were going to have construction going on in the park? We will still have a fund trip, but I am getting frustrated with Disney continuing to decrease shows, park hours, etc. and continue to raise prices.Think of all who booked in preparation of the weekends! Ouch!
