I know, super duper early but I want to book my DVC room. This year it began on May 16. Is it safe to assume next year it will start on May 15? I would really hate to book for what I think is the first weekend only to find out I was wrong!!!! :-)

You can never assume anything for certain until it is announced by WDW. It appears to have decent odds though. Star Wars Celebration is in Anaheim in April, they don't clash dates but they are pretty close.

Looking for the same info. When do they typically announce dates?

I read somewhere on here (maybe on the mammoth SWW thread) that they typically announce them around December. "normally" its the last 2 weekends in May and the first 2 weekends in June. This year was different as one weekend was in both May and June so they ended up doing 5 weekends instead of 4. Personally I'd love it if they did 5 weekends again next year.

We are planning to book for May 21-30th using our DVC points. Let the count down begin!

I was saying they should do seven since Episode VII is coming out. ;) Wishful thinking though.

When I researched for this year, the earliest start date I could find anywhere was for the 17th of May under the format that had existed up to that point. We booked our room and restaurant reservations BEFORE the actual dates were announced. Of course, the announcement came, and then the extended weekends, too.

It COULD start that day - but enjoy not Star Wars weekend if it doesn't start until the next week, too.

To be safe, you should book either the last weekend of May or the first weekend of June.

Then you're sure to be there during at least one Star Wars Weekend.

And who knows what they might have in store given that it will be about 7 months until the new movie comes out....will they add extra weeks to get more advertising for the new movie out in the public eye....or will the extended weeks be in 2016 after a whole new batch of people become Star Wars fans.....or will the naysayers be right and the new movie will fail and the end of SWW will be at hand.

The bigger burning question is after the success of having Mark attend this year, what are the chances that 2015 could see more of the "old" stars appearing and the new ones too....or will that too be held off until 2016?

Yeah, I know....conspiracy theorists and end of the worlders are rejoicing in our uncertainty.

One thing IS certain....I've already got my hotel reservations for Celebration Anaheim (we live in Arizona so we'll be driving). And I'm hoping to work on staff again this year! AND...we are in talks to rent a condo for mid May thru mid June next year, so as long as they don't totally change the months we'll be there.

Now...logic says since Celebration is in April they should put SWW off until fall, AND that would buy into the hyping up the much closer to be released movie....but that's just MY wishful thinking. I so wish they'd do SWW in cooler weather, lol. Yeah, I live in Arizona, but we're smart enough to stay indoors over the summer.
