We are trying to plan our trip for Star Wars weekend first week in June. I am trying to make plans for MGM, and am not really sure how this autograph thing works. I understand you get a wristband to get autographs. When do you get this wristband?
Is there a special place to line up for these, or is it the normal park entrance line at the turnstiles? Does the autograph sessions start as soon as the park opens, or are there specific times later in the day? Also, if anyone knows what time these sessions are, I would really be greatful to have these. I am trying to plan how to hit the big rides first thing in the AM, and get autographs for my children as well. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes you do need wristbands for the autographs - we didn't realize this and therefore did not get any autographs  They only give out a limited amount of wristbands so you need to get there when the park opens!! Not sure where you get the wristbands - I think it is up at the front gate? The signing session was for a specific time period - I believe it started at noon but people were waiting in line from 9:00!! Also, if you are looking for any of the Star Wars pins, check the pin stands in the Star Wars area before you stand in line at the Star Wars store - it was VERY long and my DH picked up the same pins at a nearby pin stand near the Star Wars stage! It was very crowded as they have Star Wars characters in costume that you can wait in line to have your photo taken with and they also have a motor car parade at 11 am with the Star Wars chacters! Have fun!

Wristband people stand waiting at 9:00. They start giving out the bands at 9:30 and only do 60 for each session and 60 standbys total. If they get through the 60 for the first session and have more time, the standbys will be taken. If not, they will be attempted to be used for the second. On friday, only 10 standbys total got autographs, all at the second session, since there were a lot of people who left without getting autographs.
When you line up for wristbands, they take the people from the rope drop to the point to wait in line. There is no way to ge there any faster, since they do not put up the lines early, even on EE days. That gave everyone the same chance.
One tip to get the pins - go during the Early Entry. there is noone in that store, since they are all on RNRC and TOT. You can shop at your own speed. If that is not an option, there are also most of the pins on a cart next to the stage by Star Tours. No lines out there. There is a limited number sold for each day, so even if you have to wait for the second day, you will be fine getting them. Do not try to do your shopping in the middle of the day. The wait is about an hour to checkout. Go early if possible and you will be all set.
