Star Wars Weekend wrist bands

My husband and I will be going to WDW next week for the first Star Wars Weekend. It is his birthday while we are down there and I was wondering if there is a way to get a wrist band for him prior to them giving them away. I have called WDW Reservations and they said there is no way to get them ahead of time. Does anyone know? My husband is a huge Star Wars fan and I would love to surprise him for his birthday.

First of all welcome to the DIS!

Sorry, but I am thinking that you will have to get up at the crack of dawn and come wait in line with the rest of us. Who needs sleep when there is something Star Wars going on? From what I have read, they give out the wristbands every day, so even if for some reason or another you do not get them the first day, there is always another day to go and try again. Plus, there is a standby line that could possibly give autographs as well, depending on how long the actors stay out and sign for.

I am so confused, can someone help me out? I hadn't heard of the wrist bands. I was so excited to be going on a Star Wars weekend because my son is such a fanatic and I was completely overjoyed to learn that Jango Fett (his absolute favorite) was going to be there the weekend we are and now I learn that we may not even be able to meet him - how disappointing. Can someone give me some tips, we will be arriving on 6/14 but won't be heading to the parks until 6/15 which is the last day. I had planned that the entire day would be pretty much a bust with standing in lines, but I had no idea we'd have to stand in line to get the privilege to stand in line.

We will be there the weekend that Jango Fett is there also. We plan on going to MGM on my son's 15th birthday and he wants to meet the stars. He's a huge Star Wars fan! Please somebody give us details about the wristbands. I had not heard of this either. My son will be so disappointed if he doesn't get to see the stars. Thanks so much!

I am going next week, and have not heard anything about wristbands. I can forgo the autographs if I have to - I am more interested in the collectables. Do we need wrist bands for that?

The wristbands are only for getting autographs. There will be two separate lines for the different stars, so if there is only one person that you want to meet, then there is only one line that you have to stand in. That is how this worked in the past, so I would assume that is how they are handling it this year as well. As it worked in the past, there would be the line of people with the wristbands for a certain autograph session and then a stand-by line. If all the people with the wristbands have gotten their autographs and there is time left over, then they will take people out of the stand-by line. It really depends on the star. Some will leave at the moment their time is up and others will stay out the entire time.

There may be a limit on some of the collectibles (like the pins) but other than that, there is nothing that Disney will do to stop you from giving them your money.

When you say get autograph's from certain characters is that the time to also get photos taken with them? Anyone? In other words are we going to have to stand in line for wrist bands if we want the kids to have pictures witht he characters?

The wristbands are ONLY for the stars/actors/celebrities that are there each weekend. If you want to meet/get autograph from Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett, then you have to get a wristband.

If you just want to get pictures with the various characters that will be out and about - ie Darth Maul, Quenn Amidala, Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, etc. - then it's just like meeting a regular Disney character. You just get in the meet and greet line. You DON'T need a wristband for these characters.

The autographs to wait in line for and get the wristbands for are for the actual PEOPLE from the movies (aka Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, etc).

There will be the characters from the movies as well. The characters will be the same as normal Disney characters, some having lines, some not, depending on how popular they are. You can get your photos and autographs from the CHARACTERS like you would for a normal Disney character.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I've never heard of the wristbands either and would like to know how to obtain one. Do you have to get to the park super early and get in line for it? Or is it something you acquire before you get to the park? Thanks for any info you may be able to offer!

The wristbands are given out at the park for that day only. You can't get them ahead of time.

I know I am aiming for like an hour, hour and a half, but that is because I have to process my AP's and get all that set up ahead of time and don't know how long it will take.

But getting to the park around opening time, you should be okay to get wristbands. You will not be at the front of the line, but you should be able to still get the autographs and meet the actors!

what if you want to see both stars in one day?

We were planning on getting to the gate a little early. We want both autographs. I, too planned this trip for my hubby's 30th birthday cause he is a huge Star Wars fan.
Where do they hand out the wristbands? At the gate when it opens or is there a mad dash over to the Star Wars attraction?
We will have our two small kids with us and planned on splitting up for the stars.
Also, we have two glossies. Will they sign them?
