Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

We are going the first Saturday but arrive in Orlando Friday so I think my hubby and I will run by DHS to go to the merch tent and get the vinylmations, look at the passholder merchandise, and get something my husband can have Ray sign on Saturday.

Last year they had run out of a lot of stuff by the second weekend we were there so we definitely want to get our hands on these items!

Last year we didn't get to the merchandise tent until after dh got out of work. I think we got there around 6pm, on the first day of SWW. Some of the LE stuff was sold out by then. We did get a LE t-shirt for Star Tours and a couple pins, but the one pin and t we wanted was sold out.

Buses start running around 6:30am every day.

Does anyone know if that includes the boats from the Epcot Resort Area? I was concerned they may not start until 7 like most mornings.

NEVERMIND - I didn't read far enough. My bad.

We are new to the AP. Is the passholder merchandise available online or just in person?

We are going to the LAST SWW. I hope there are things left. :woohoo:

THANKS!

Not only are there things left, but the event-specific merchandise (the stuff that actually says Disney Star Wars Weekends) is usually marked down.

Yep...it's hard to wait for that last weekend but we've managed to get alot of things the last Sunday...unless you must have it and you're affraid it will sell out.

I assume just in person, but I could be wrong.

We never shopped at the end of SWW, will have to make it a point to check this year. Was there many LE things left?

I know it probably has been posted but where is the location of the merchandise tent? My 11 yr old DS saw some things that is posted on a Star Wars page of products this SWW coming up. He loves Donal Duck & there are some cool Donald Duck/Darth Maul stuff. We are attending on the last Saturday of SWW will there be discounts on Saturday or Sunday (the official last day of SWW).

It's behind Rock n Roller Coaster, there's an area that is usually a CM parking lot, they put the tent there, it's great, big and more importantly Air Conditioned. This years logo is Donald as Darth Maul so you'll find alot of merchandise.

I hope a couple of characters are down in there again this year! That was the best line we ever waited in :rotfl: We saw C3-P0 (and I think Luke...)

Just received my Mickey Monitor for the Summer and the cover is SWW, it also has an article that confirms a couple of things:
The Stormtroopers will again be on top of the turnstiles in the morning
The parade, again will end at the Hat Stage with all the characters and celebs posing for pictures

I've tried looking throughout the thread, but couldn't find this...

Does anyone know what time the parade will be?

Also, if you were going to be there a full weekend--Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which day would you choose for the studios to do that Star Wars stuff? I"m leaning towards Friday, thinking that the crowds might be lighter due to some people wanting to finish out a work week and not arriving until late Friday...
But the week I'm going, Friday is EMH at Epcot, plus I was able to get ADRs for Garden Grill (I have one kid that only requested Mickey, another that only requested Chip and Dale--so Garden Grill seems like the perfect choice!) on Friday...I'm pretty sure we're going to have Park Hopper tickets, so I could do morning Star Wars, later afternoon evening Epcot on Friday...then do Magic Kingdom on Saturday morning and return to the studios in the afternoon for any later in the day Star Wars things we missed...
And Sunday...do whatever we feel we need more time at...

I also currently have ADRs late Sat. afternoon at Sci Fi...we like it, but don't feel it's a "MUST DO" right now...just a "it would be nice", kwim?
What do you think?

I think you need to decide what SW 'stuff' you want do and that will determine how much time you need. If you want to get all the character autographs then plan on spending the entire weekend doing that as lines are long and the characters rotate within the same line. If you want only a select few then 1 day will be good enough. Also if the kids want to do JTA then you'll be given a time and that's that. You'll have to plan your day around being back at your scheduled time. If they want to do the mind challenge those are set times as well. If they want to see the Hoopla then that is a set time too and requires time spent waiting if you want to be by the stage. etc etc

Not yet.

What weekend are you going to?

Thanks Delmar41 and CentralFloridian99!

We will be going to the first weekend, May 18-20.

I don't think we're necessarily interested in getting the actors autographs--more interested in getting pictures with the Disney characters dressed in star wars costume--like Leia Minnie and Jedi Mickey.

So pics with characters, Hoopla, JTA, and the parade are the main things. We probably don't have much interest in the specialized merchandise at all either.
