Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Kind of bummed that we aren't getting to SWW today. DS with special needs is wiped out from just the 2 hours at the park yesterday. Tomorrow night we're going for the Hoopla and hopefully checking out Darth Mall before that.

Did they show the Hoopla on the screen at Idol again?

Yes, they show the Hoopla on the Idol screen.

I Know the kids have to be with you for JTA sign ups. But can say my dh or I run ahead and get in line and the other move at a more leisurely pace and give the kids to the one in line. We will have a stroller and two kids at least that want to do it. I think if it's like it is during non SWW they just have to be there when they get to the front of the line - right????

I think the real trick on the autographs is who you are going to try to get. The stars of the movies - the headliners, if you will - Ray Park, Anthony Daniels, Jeremy Bulloch - really anyone who was a major character in the movies - are going to be in high demand. Sadly, as fantastic as the Clone Wars cartoon show is, and as awesome as those stars are, they are not "face" stars. They are voice actors. So, the general public may not always recognize them or how cool they are.

Of course, there are lots of folks who are just walking up and see the cool stuff going on - they may not know who the Clone Wars folks are, either. I have spoken to many people who are going down during the SWW event, and have no idea that it is going on. That puzzles me, but, I digress. The casual autograph seeker will just go for the first really recognizable guy they see.

Just some observations from conventions that I saw at work last year with the crowds.

So if my DD wants to do the JTA twice (different days), is there a way so that she can be with Vader one time and Maul the other?

The DHS parking lot is now full, and guests are being directed to Epcot's parking lot. Won't be long before stage 1 lockdown.

I appreciate all the great information and advice being provided on this thread! We are going next Saturday for our first SWW. I have one question. DH wants Ray Park's autograph so I see that we really need to be there by 5:00 or 5:15. We are staying onsite at AKV Kidani. Will resort buses run that early or will we need to drive? Not a problem either way, just trying to plan. I think DH and I will head over at 5:00 and have the rest of the family come by 7:00.

Thanks!

We're at Kidani and going next Saturday for our first SWW too! Can't imagine we'll leave that early though -- probably 7am and the chips will fall where they may with the autographs.

I don't want to leave that early, but DH does so we shall see!! The rest of of the family will probably be at the bus stop around 7; maybe I'll be with them!:rotfl:

I don't think the park ever hit stage 1 lockdown, but guests are still being directed to Epcot's parking lot though. Oh, and if you want the special frozen R2-D2 drink, be prepared for a long line in the afternoon. Note I'm getting this info from Studios Central @_@

Is there a bus from Epcot to DHS? Or is the boat from World Showcase the only option?

I can't recall if there is one normally, but there would have to be in this case. People without hoppers would have a problem since they'd have to go through Epcot to get there.

Matt from Studios Central says that the reason why kids aren't rewarded with toys at the end of JTA and PWMC is because Hasbro's contract with Disney ended.

has anyone found out if you can get the kids power pack meal in the R2D2 container as a QS credit?

a) I'm psyched to see my name of the list of Disers who are attending. 1 week away!!!

b) For anyone who did the carbonate freezing experience....how long does it take? We have two peeps at 1:50, and 2 at 1:55....how quickly will we be out?
Just curious....

:cool1:

Our family of six will be there next week. It's our second SWW. So excited by the trip reports. :jumping3:

We don't do the autographs.

We just love the atmosphere.

Ok, the people at the info desk don't know all the details...just watched padawan mind challenge, kids DO get a gift...the 2:10 is all clone wars and the 6:30 is all Episode 1

Brit_Jude: Happy to hear you just enjoy the atmosphere....cause we aren't sure we want to wait for autographs!

More questions:

Do the shows fill up? Do we need to get in line early? (specifically wondering about Ray's 6p show.)

How early should we look for Hyperspace Hoopla seating?

Thanks, and may the force be with you all!

:cool1:
