Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

No surprise here with the hosts as I predicted it. Hopefully the rest get announced soon!

Although my two boys are Star Wars nuts....(and DH)...my daughter loves it, too. In fact, one of her "souvenirs" on our last trip, with her own $$, was her own lightsaber. :) Now, my kids know nothing about SWW...it is going to be a complete surprise when we roll up to HS that morning (we'll actually be there for two of the weekends, but it will be a surprise the first one).

We are surprising our kids as well! They will know what it is going on when we get to HS. I so hope that the storm troopers are up on top of the entrance, that would be just way cool! We are going opening weekend on Friday. I think we will try to be there by no later than 7:30 to make sure we don't miss anything.
So excited!:cool1:

We will see you at the gates on Friday morning!! :thumbsup2 So excited!

We are going to be there the first Friday and Saturday too! :worship:

I am STOKED that I got the R2D2 when I did then. He's my favorite  I am happy there is something else that will be available (maybe but makes sense).

Is the Jedi Training different during SWW? She did it in October and if it is the same thing, then I wont worry with it, but if they do something different, then she will want to do it.

JTA is the same, there will be two levels, kids fighting on stage will fight Darth Vader and kids at the bottom will fight Darth Maul or Asajj Ventress (at least that's what happened last year), The only difference is that they get a small toy at the end.
If your daughter loves Ahsoka the girtl that does her voice (Ashley Eckstein) will do meet and greets. She is awesome, we've met her every year and she remembers my daughter's name every year. She also has her own clothing line for girls and women, www.heruniverse.com

Ahsoka sometimes assists the Jedi Master in the training as well - no guarantees though - but worth looking into if your kid is a fan.

Having grown up on Star Wars, I wish they had the all of this at Disney when I was young. I took my 5 year there last year and we are in line for Star Tours, and a Stormtrooper walks right past us, and he looks down at my son and does the whole "I've got my eye on you" bit with his fingers and then walks away! It was such a great moment. At his age I would have killed for an experience like that. And on top of that a duel with Vader?? Pinch me.

We went in 2011 and had such a great time. We are planning SWW again in 2013. Does anyone want to venture a guess at 2013 dates? I know that SWW is traditionally the last 2 weekends in May and first 2 weekends in June. In 2013 May 31st is a Friday with June 1st and 2nd being Saturday and Sunday. So, I'm wondering if you think the dates will be May 17th - June 9th, 2013 or May 24th - June 16th, 2013? Anyone want to make a guess?

That would be a good guess, I really hope they bring it back to all weekends in May, at least the temps. are slightly cooler

Has anyone purchased any of her tees? Wondering how they fit and what the quality is like. I was thinking of getting one to wear to SWW so I can match Hubby and the kids. (They already have SW shirts.) Thanks.

My DD11 has the "Daddy's Little Girl" and the Padme Nouveau"
We've only had problems with Daddy's Little Girl, the purple bled into the white of Leia's dress. But my DD11 still wears it proudly, she's had them for over a year and they still look great, other than the little issue.
As to fit just follow the link and it tells you the measurements. Ashley said that she'll have some new products for SWW, so I'm already saving for that.

Wow - lots of us will be there for opening day/weekend...we will be there on the Friday and Sunday of the first weekend. Can't wait!

Not sure that the days events and the crowds allow for a Dismeet, but I like the idea of random meetings in line or at the events.

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks for all the advice you're giving. You helped me last year nail down where Maleficent would be after the VM&M, and that worked out great.

My group will be there on the third weekend's Sunday (June 3), and I'll be watching all the tips. My goals are pretty small--see the parade and meet Vader and get his autograph. If I can get a few others too, that'll be icing on the cake. :thumbsup2

I was thinking the same thing, but I think we'll be screening some funny ones for ourselves. I read a comment on www.heruniverse.com and a buyer posted that the shirts might not work for anyone 'with a chest'. I don't want to buy a much bigger shirt than I need because I dislike really tight tee's in the chest area. I'm wondering if the shirts are more of a junior fit than a women's fit.

I found some funny screens and have bought white tee's for DH and I, to print on. I was able to find two shirts for DS (one at WalMart, one at Old Navy)...one has Darth with an AT-AT (I think I got that right) on a leash and the other has Darth playing a board game with Star Wars figures and his bubble says "pew, pew" like he's pretend shooting. They're really cute and DS is very happy for them.

If you are an adult and you want a good view of the Hoopla you need to be really down front, because if you're not there will be kids on shoulders in front of you. Guaranteed. If you stand way back (assuming it's on the big stage at the hat again) then you can see over them unless there is one directly in front of you.
And if the kids didn't go up on shoulders, THEY wouldn't be able to see. To me, it's also more comfortable putting DS on my shoulders than holding him on my hip (in which case he would still be partially blocked).

If those in the front rows would simply stay seated, then you wouldn't have the problem to begin with.

It's always fun to help out. SWW is my favorite event at WDW. I've attended for the last 8 years. Our group from Matt Hotchberg's Studios Central will meet the first Saturday probably at Backlot Express around lunch. We always get together for lunch during the first Saturday and then watch Hoopla together. Anyone is welcome to join, I'll post more details when we know, we also do planning chats.

First celeb announced for weekend 1. Dee Bradley Baker (voice of all the clones on Clone Wars) has confirmed via twitter page that he'll attend weekend 1:
I'll be in Orlando for Star Wars Weekends May 18-20 (opening weekend)! Looking forward to another fantastic time! #starwars #SWW
He also does the voice or sound of Perry the Platypus. He's a great guy and really fun to meet.

Cool...DS is happy to hear this news!

We're heading down the 11th-19th, so we'll be there for the first weekend. A couple questions maybe someone could help me with...

We're really only interested in the parade and a few character meets. Will we be able to ride the other attractions with little waits, or will the lines be crazy?

And, how bad is the first day? Is it insanely crowded? We'll have another HS day to do the other rides and shows.

Thanks!
