Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

This will be the second year my son and I will be attending SWW. I just looked at the crowd calendar, and realized Gay Days is at HS on Friday May 31. I didn't check the crowd clendar prior to booking because I new it would be pegged for SWW.

Last year, we were able to do the most on Friday than we were able to do on
Saturday or Sunday becuase it was less crowded.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how GD's will impact the crowds on Friday?

Also is anyone interested in putting to gather a meet and great during SWW?

TIA.

Psst..... hey you Star Wars fans! Over here!!

So you're in the mood for a little Star Wars eh?? Trying to get in the spirit and figure the whole thing out?? Well I have some pictures of the parade and Hyperspace Hoopla that you'd probably like to see. Here's the link!

PS. Thanks to all the knowledgeable people who contribute to threads like this one. :worship: :worship: :worship: They are the folks that helped me out last year so I could get great shots like this!

We will be in Hollywood Studios on Sat. May 19th. We have reservations for H&V at 10:10. We are NOT there for Star wars weekend. More for Beauty and the Beast and a few other things. I did want to ride SW, but if the line is to long, I can do it next time. We are only in Disney for 4 days, so no choice here. Give me some help. We plan on being there early, do TT, RCC, Beauty and the Beast, TSM, Disney playhouse. Will that be possible.

Totally doable. Be there about 45min. before rope drop so that you can head straight for TSM, ride or grab a f/p. Then you could ride TT, RnRC and Star Tours during the rest of your day. BB and Disney Jr. have set times. If you ride Star Tours during the time the SW parade is on you should have less of a wait for it. I should say there are alot of details inside the line for ST, so don't freak out if it says 45min. There's a lot to see inside the building.

I love it! Thanks for sharing!!! Only one complaint about all of SWW, where is Han Solo???? He's my favorite, and I was hoping to see him with Chewie . Oh well.....

Search Youtube for the "hoopla" that was performed at the 2010 Last Tour to Endor event. Han Solo appeared in that one.

So there is hope that he may be there this year.
Woo Hoo! I will also look for that on YouTube, thanks!

What is a good touring plan for a 6 year boy (with no Jedi Training, no celebrity autographs and leaving the park before dinner)?

When will time for the mid-day parade be announced?

How and when will we know where characters m&c be locations?

What about past experience?

Hi all - While I know they have not released the dates yet, we will be there Memorial Day Weekend & hopefully that will be one of the Star Wars Weekends. We can't change our trip dates so are fingers are crossed.

Does anyone have any tips they can share from previous Star Wars Weekends?

We met this AMAZING:thumbsup2 man who took us under his wing when he saw it was our first star wars weekend ever. He told us the best place to watch the parade was on the steps of American Idol, to the left of the doors. Also, he showed os that is you yell Ray Park's name as he is passing by REALLY,REALLY loud, he will stop and do some really cool acrobatic moves for you :cool1:. I don't know who this gentleman was, but he gave my husband a colored picture to get signed by Ray Park for free. Wherever he is, we truly thank him for making our first Star Wars Weekend exciting.

just bumping this thread up any news? when do they release the detailed itinerary

Key is Rope Drop. Get there early, if the park is scheduled to open at 9am be at the turnstiles by 8:15am just in case they open early. If interested in characters go to them first, longest lines are Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Mickey/Minnie/Donald/Goofy. Get a spot for parade at least 1 hour before. They do a Clone Wars show where Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka) explains how voice over works and they have a celeb guest and talk about the clone wars and do a little demostrantion. Hoppla is usually at the end around 7pm so if you're still in the park grab a spot 1 hour before the show.

The schedule won't be "leaked" out until the week before the first weekend. keep checking here or on sww.studioscentral.com they usually are on top of any and all news about sww.

Usually the week before sww starts.

Can anyone guess which may be the better day for us to go to SWW? Sunday of memorial day weekend, or Friday June 1? Do you think one will be less crowded than the other? I think Friday may be Gay day for HS. My 5 year old loves star wars and will be so excited- we'd love to try and get him into Jedi training.
Do they do Jedi training during the regular week too? I wasn't sure if something I read alluded to that. We'll also try to visit one weekday after Mem day.

I would go friday since the locals will be at work. The do jedi training every day but on SWW, the kids get an action figure too.

Crowd-wise there's not much difference. I'd base my decision therefore on who's going to be there. The celebrities change from wknd to wknd and so programs change. You may see something (for instance, last year it was Ray Park(Darth Maul actor) and he did a great show with kids (Trip to the Maul) doing karate moves on stage with them, oh that was awesome my kids LOVED IT. :cloud9: Schedules aren't out yet; but if you have a choice there isn't a marked difference in crowds even with Gay Days.

Regular Jedi Training is done also during the week.

What is a good time to eat dinner when visiting during SWW? Are there evening activites/parades?

I do not make ADRs for TS meals inside the park during Star Wars Weekends if I want to do the Star Wars stuff.

Hoopla is over around 7:30 so if you are planning to attend it you may not want to think about booking dinner until after that.

Thanks! Well we r staying at the poly thu-mon of Mem day weekend, so i was trying to get a 2nd visit at MK possibly that Sunday, so friday later that week would actually be better for us to go to HS when we are staying at WYndham BOnnet Creek. We will also try to go to HS on tuesday since Easywdw suggests that's a recommended day there- hopefully we can have DS do the Jedi training that day rather than the SWW- and we can save our line time for characters!

Disney Parks Blog just anounced that Ashley Eckstein and James Arnold Taylor will be the hosts of SWW 2012, again.

Just to clarify:
last year's SW Parade was at 12:40pm and Hyperspace Hoopla was at 7:45pm.
No clue on the times this year
