Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Hi all

Thank you for yout answers to my questions!!! Sorry it took so long to say thanks!
We are on the road as I type! I can't believe its finally here!

Two friends met my wife and i at work yesterday and we drove to Delaware from NYC and stayed with another friend. This morning we rented a larger car and we are driving from Delaware to Florida! We are staying with my parents about 2 hrs from Orlando. Tomorrow we are taking my nephews to the wizarding world of harry potter and then Friday is SWW! Harry potter and star wars? Can it get any better?

Road trip is awesome so far! Except, I broke a tooth! I'm not even sire how it happened, but cracked a back tooth right in half while I was eating this morning! Im not going to let it ruin anything, though!

I'll have a lime green mickey head that says TrixieLouMagoo, if you see me, please say hi!

I know you'll have tons of fun. Wizarding World is awesome for any HP fan, it's very well detailed and all the little touches they put into the area is neat. Maybe we'll see you Saturday or Sunday.

I agree whole-heartedly -- can't get any better than that! We'll be at SWW on Friday -- I'll also have a LGMH, I'll look for you. We're not heading to US/IOA until next week, but I'm pretty excited about that, too!

Just wanted to give a BIG thank you to everyone that contributed all the great tips, information and especially the live reporting.

We have a 6:00 AM flight tomorrow morning and DD and I can't wait to attend our first SWW.

We had to cancell our 2012 trip so I have talked my husband into doing two trips in 2013. One being SWW and the other Thanksgiving. For SWW (and since we would be going back in Nov.) my thought was to arrive on Thursday - spend Fri., Sat., and Sun. at SW then depart home on Monday. Our DS will still be in school (missing three days) but grades are always turned in two weeks before school is out so he really wouldn't be missing anything. From what I have read so far in these 139 pages is / hot and lines. Therefore, spending all three days at SWW seems like a must in order to see a lot. Right?!?!

We tend to leave Thursday and miss the last day of school-Friday. The last week of school there is usually an ice cream day, game day, outdoor day, etc. Now, our kids are still in 2nd and 3rd grade, but yes grades are turned in early for us as well. So missing the last day of school for us is no big deal.

We can't get everything done in one day if we want to get celebrity autographs, or see the shows, or characters. To even see as many characters as we can takes a minimum 2 days.

It also sounds like you need to arrive early - therefore I'm thinking all Character Breakfast need to wait till Thanksgiving. Yeah or Nay?!?!

If you can wait I would reserve character breakfasts for Thanksgiving time. You won't know what time slots you get for JTA, or how long you'll be in line for a character and such. It was such a hassle for us to have 2 times we had to work around; our Carbon Freeze me time at 9:10 and our ADR at Sci Fi at 2:40. We also dealt with Fast Pass times and that was too much altogether.

We will be bringing our camper and staying at the Fort so we could just eat breakfast at the camper to get an earlier start if it helps us to see more.

Since the 2013 dates have not been posted I'm guessing based on past dates and hoping that the first weekend of SW in 2013 is the weekend of May 17th (weekend before Memorial Day). This would be the weekend we would want to go because we go camping every Memorial Day with family and June is always really busy for us. Is the first weekend the worst weekend for crowds or are all weekends about the same ?

1st weekend is more for the merchandise people; the lines are those people who are buying limited editions for their own collections or to sell them themselves at marked up prices. I believe lines for characters aren't as bad; kids are still in school. But in terms of bodies in DHS; they're roughly the same as for all wknds. Just different ideas of what their SWW goals are.

Last thing (for now anyway) - we don't mind skipping all the non- SW rides and activites since A) we have done them all before and B) we will be back in Nov. so would there be a lot of walking? In other words is all the SW characters, shows, etc. located in one area near the Star Tours ride or do you still have to walk to RRC to see SW stuff?

The SWW tent near RnRC not only includes merchandise but also the Luke/Leia/C-3PO/R2-D2 characters. That's the farthest away from the central action of SWW, but well worth going to check it out. Check out the event map to see where everything is located, but I don't find it too spread apart to get to everything. I also find DHS to be a smaller park in comparison to the other parks.

Wow, it seems hard to believe that this is the last weekend of the event. As this was my first year going I didn't quite know what to expect, but thanks to all the tips from everybody here, it has been a memorable experience. And this last weekend is shaping up to be a great way to wrap it all up.
Again thanks everyone for the tips, they have really helped me in getting the most out of Star Wars Weekends 2012.

Check in Darth's Mall at Ashley Eckstein's Her Universe area. She has some earrings and necklaces in a case. When you go in head straight to the back on the right side.
