The only thing we would like to do during Star Wars weekend is get our DS5 photo taken with the characters dressed up as Star Wars character. Other than that, we are planning to stay away from Star Wars.

How bad is the crowd to just get pictures of the character (not the actors)?

Other fastpasses (non-star wars related)?

Thanks!

We were there this past year and some of the popular characters like Boba Fett or Darth Vader had long lines. Too long for my 6 year old but there are SO many characters around that you will have a good time.

I suggest that you plan to watch the parade where you will be able to see every character that you recognize and many more. (I am assuming that you are like me, a supportive but not exactly Star Wars loving parent. Although DS6 and DS8 knew so very many!)

Get an early start, be there for rope drop to watch the cool storm trooper opening show.

May the force be with you!!! Have a great time.

The majority of the lines at SWW are for characters, not the actors (those are FP only). Some of the longest lines include Darth Vader, Jedi Mickey and Chewbacca (ie plan on waiting at least 45 minutes). But even the "lesser" characters will still have a good 15-30 minute wait.

As for the rides, they don't appear to be any busier than any other day. Star Tours will be the exception in 2011, since the new version will be opening right before the presumed SWW dates.

The characters come out at 9. Darth Vader gets an extremely long line as most families end up doing individual pictures as well as group. Some of the characters are wanderers and you kind of have to catch them at the right time (Aura Sing). Many of the characters rotate in their given greeting spots - not getting the same one over and over can be challenging, but you can usually let people go ahead until who you want comes out. Some don't stay out very long because of the costuming and the heat - Kit Fisto comes out for 5-10 minutes tops. Others are just more rare (Ventress).

Chewbacca alternates with an ewok in the morning, but after lunch they appear together. The Ewok will either be Wicket or Lohray. I'll be honest that we managed to get all of the characters autographs and photos, but it was over 9 differnt days (3 weekends). It was just too hot and some afternoons we went for 1 or 2 characters and left.

The heat was astonishing and the crowds were nothing to sneeze at...my best advice is to prioritize and focus on the ones you really want. We didn't really bother with attractions on those days. Honestly the attractions were kind of random as to crowdedness (except TSM was packed).

The parade gets very crazy around the Jedi Training area. We happened to have a table at the restaurant right there prior to and by the time the parade got there hundreds of people had gone into the landscaping or packed in everywhere so that we couldn't see very well. The Hyperspace Hoopla is sadistic in terms of crowding and space. We didn't even try it after seeing what was setting up. Hopefully they will move it.

Hope that helps! Good Luck!

op = are you saying you only want to see the Disney characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald) dressed in star wars costumes? There was only one line for them last year; they'd each stay out 10-15 minutes or so, and switch to another. The lines were usually about 1/2 hour, so you'd get in line and when you were in the front it would be a different character. So you get the pattern figured out and the timing for getting in line figured out before long if you want to see all four. Sometimes you can hit it just right and get two together while they are switching.

Yes, I am only concerned with the characters who are dressed up like Jedi Mickey.

I'm trying to figure out if the picture opportunity is worth the crowd. Maybe not.

For the past 2 years Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Stormtrooper Donald and Darth Goofy have come out in the area in between The Great Movie Ride and ABC Comissary. The first pair came out around 9:30am but people get there at rope drop and go straight to make this line. Like others have said, the characters rotate every 20 minutes or so. This is all based on what has happened before, I hope that the change the layout this coming year because alot of people made the line for one character only for that character to change right before they were about to see them.
As other poster said, the parade is awesome and you can see all the characters there.
