Star Wars Lands .... Please Translate

Didn't they learn From DCA that cost cutting and going the cheap route will only cost them more in the end?
I'll withhold judgement until they're built, but I wouldn't equate sticking to a budget with going cheap. The Star Wars expansions were announced last August with 2 attractions, the article referencing the "recent" cut of the third attraction was from January 2016.

I smell lots of scenery, meet and greets, a character meal, a 3D glasses Millennium Falcon attraction and a huge souvenir shop. What I don't sense when I hear "cut the budget and stick to it" is a major attraction on par with ToT, EE, Radiator Springs Racers, RnR, or even Splash Mountain. I sincerely hope that I am wrong. But NFL gave us a Barnstormer level coaster (built around a really cool mountain), a 1970's style clam shell ride (built inside a really cool mountain) and a character meet attraction (built inside a really neat house). So my fear is that SW will become more sizzle and less steak. I expect the scenery to be spectacular. I expect the attractions to reflect serious cost control.

I couldn't have written this ANY better myself. Are we the same person ??? Were we separated at birth ???

Seriously. This is the thing, Star Wars Land ... NEEDs .... and I mean NEEDS .... a major "E-Ticket" attraction. The scenery wont be enough, a Moderate 3D glasses Star Tours or (Universal) Spider Man type attraction wont do, its got to be a RnR type attraction. DHS needs to become a major park again. Esp with the capacity of Backlot and LMA gone ... they need to not only replace the capacity, but increase the total DRAW of the attractions. And if its all scenery and M&Gs and a gift shop ... its going to solidify DHS as a half day park ... and with current crowds and cut backs in capacity ... that just wont do. Not only that, but the Franchise is worth SO MUCH more. Good lord. IF, and I do mean "if", Disney does not capitalize on Star Wars in the parks in a MAJOR way, they are throwing away Billions of dollars. Its really that simple. This is, I think without doubt, their most profitable franchise. I'd argue its more important than the Mouse himself. Its fricken Star wars. Its a 2 more movies in the Trilogy, with several spin offs, a few TV shows, and then an entire world to build even more cinematic adventures in, one that appeals to so many people including boomers, echos, Millennials and the NEXT generation ... there is no franchise like it. Disney honestly can't afford to screw this up or cut corners on it ...

The largest attraction, battle with the first order, must not have much of a smell. :stir:

I'm not going to try and predict what will be in a land 2 years from now. I will say that the phrasing "a recent cut removed an attraction" is strange because the announcement in August only listed 2 attractions.

It will be a shame, a disappointment, and a serious missed opportunity if it's not as spectacular as Diagon Alley. However, as much as I adore DA, it really does also consist of a bunch of really cool scenery, one ride, a themed restaurant, and a bunch of shops. Sound familiar? And I go and think it's great. But the difference is, there is so MUCH more to the Star Wars universe(s?), that it could be absolutely unprecedented. But do we really expect that from management who just figured out they could charge people to watch fireworks from outside the park?? *sigh*

Micechat is the only source to ever say there was a third attraction.
Thanks! Was just looking for the source of the rumor as asked in the question, and it looks like that's it (rest of the question involved some moving sidewalks that is also referenced in the same article).

It will certainly be a more difficult task than re-creating a movie set that already exists (similar to a Be Our Guest situation, just give the people what they know).

The lands are breaking ground next month .... great

But ...

Iger said the original plans for the park expansions have been tweaked and he “wouldn’t focus on what was in an earlier design plan because what we are building will be great.”

Translation ?

What we are building will be great?

That sounds a lot like Trump! Actually if it was Trump Iger would've said "Star Wars Land is going to be YUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE!!!!1"

I don't want to state the obvious, but this is probably going to be "The Big Thing" for WDW for like the next 15 years. I doubt we'll see much from 2020-2035 since we'll have New Fantasyland, AvatarLand, AK at night, Toy Story Land, and Star Wars Land. I would hope they'd go ALL-OUT to make it amazing and a draw for 50 years. But sadly I don't think they're going to come through. I don't expect an attraction on par with Splash Mountain or Pirates or Tower of Terror, rides that will be around for 100 years and still be awesome in 2116.

Instead I expect a really cool gigantic...Yuuuuuge....gift shop and restaurant with a couple mediocre rides.

But I have been wrong before.
