Star Wars Land?

After all the actual announced press events where they didn't announce much, it would seem strange to make a major announcement that no one really knows about... :)

This is true, but why would he be there at all though? For what it's worth the Inside the Magic twitter account says that 2 Guest Relations CMs confirmed that Iger is there for an announcement. I'm cautiously optimistic ;)

That's assuming he really is there. And he could announce anything...like they'll be serving special drinks at SWW or something.

Some people are saying that it could be the subtitle of Episode VII.

But a park expansion? Not going to be at some impromptu thing, methinks.

Update: Fireworks over, no sighting of Iger, no announcements. Park closes in another couple of hours, but nothing special planned.

~WOW! This is just amazing, I've never heard any of this before. Twin Dad, you are of the *KING* of all things Star Wars! I can't wait to hear your opinion(s) on more Star Wars stuff, as it develops.
~Hi Friendly Frog! Yay, you totally get it about Avatar. But, I have mixed feeling about Carsland -- I love "the look", (omg) it's so gorg, especially at night! But two of the three attractions are just underwhelming. So, I'm thinking Star Wars land & Pixar land with a Cars element. I don't know if you read the whole thread, but Twin Dad posted some fabulous pics from beautiful planets that look much better than Tatooine. And, honestly DHS could really benefit from both.

~This!

Thanks for the tip I have not seen the photos, I'll have to check that out. In all honesty I like the shops & restaurant themeing of CL, but Radiator Springs Racers is really the only ride I would care to see come to WDW. I have to say Radiator Springs racers it's now my favorite attraction at any park anywhere. I also appreciate that it is a ride that pretty much any age can ride..kids to grandparents all enjoying the attraction.

I appreciate the compliments. I am just a Star Wars geek who has soaked up the saga like a sponge. After doing all the research for this Disney trip I have learned a lot about the parks and what others love about WDW and what needs work. A Star Wars Land would fit with the DHS theme and would also attract boys between 6 and 16 (And their dads). Sounds like a win for both sides to me. If you're interested in learning more about
Star Wars I suggest poking around here. Enjoy!
~Thank you for the link, Twin Dad. And, for the record, I stopped reading after "medical droid." :rotfl: I love the hype and excitement from the fans more than "Star Wars" -- but can still get excited about it. I hope it grows on me a little more with the new upcoming films. :goodvibes

i definetly think your right.. and maybe i was just being a cynic or maybe just not the hugest star wars fan. ive seen all the movies and would love to go to a star wars park. i guess my expectations would just be very high considering how important a large a realm the star wars galaxy is you know? veeeeery big job.. but i have faith in disney :goodvibes
~Yes, very well said. :goodvibes

How many times does it take on these "major announcement" rumors?

Apparently one more
~These "big announcement" rumors are becoming more & more prevalent and equally tiresome -- at least they're fun. I believe a classic LOL lecture is in order -- at least ten paragraphs, no less. Seriously.

~Hi Friendly Frog! Great post & I totally agree with you on this! I would love for WDW to have RSR Racers and that beautiful neon Radiator Springs part for the night. :goodvibes

I don't really see that happening. Done well, I wouldn't mind it happening, but I don't think that it will.

Could be right I've seen concept art for the following.

1. Indy show: New Star Wars Eticket
2. Sounds Dangerous becomes Master Yodas Jedi Academy aka Turtle Talk with Yoda
3. Theater of the Stars converted to Star Wars show
4. Streets of America converted to Corrasant.

That's hardly most of DHS...but that's all within the area considered for Star Wars Land that I've heard so far...except Streets Of America.

Why wouldn't they just use the Indy theatre for the Star Wars show, then do the E-ticket either where Lights Motors Action is, or push back the service road a bit and expand to the little creek that runs to the east of the property?

Because LMA is going to be part of Cars Land, of course :)

The Theater of the Stars is where they hold the "talk shows" for Star Wars Weekends. They'd have to do something else for that if they repurpose.

I could see them redoing Streets of America, although I wouldn't like it. It was meant to look like an actual movie backlot version of various locations, but since DHS has long since stopped being an actual studio...but where would the Osbourne Lights go?

Disney wants more 'Star Wars' in its theme parks

Starting to see more mainstream articles about more Star Wars in the theme parks. So while it's a rumor and will be so until some official announcement from Disney, it looks like they will probably add something in the future. At least I hope they do!

~Wow, thanks for sharing! This is the best Star Wars thread I've ever read -- I learned so many fabulous things here. If you find more articles or rumors please don't hesitate to post them!

We just joined DVC and suddenly I think my DH is going to be a much much happier camper :)

My DF loves everything sci-fi, superhero or comic book related, so he would LOVE to see a Star Wars land! It spans generations and just makes sense.
