Star Wars hotel

I had actually thought making a disney cruise ship as a space ship. You have so nany interior rooms. Make space screens. People then feel locked up in space iso ocean.

I really like the idea of a "total immersion" approach to a resort. Completely different than anything else out there. Like being inside a video game and playing a role in it. The poster who described this resort similar to the cruise ship is right. You would check in for a period of time and not have to leave the resort. I'm not sure where the posted costs are coming from but it should be less than a cruise on a per night basis

I am a casual Star Wars fan, and this resort actually repels me. I have no desire to "be part of the story" and (for instance) get harassed by a bounty hunter while I'm trying to eat some breakfast. But many pp's are right, this is a cash cow. Disney won't be able to count the money fast enough. Role playing is a HUGE industry

That market is actually quite huge World wide
::yes:: Yes it is.

I agree with the bolded. But there are literally millions of people that are THAT into Star Wars. I have a feeling this is going to be huge for WDW.
Yup. And yes, it will be huge for disney. The resort will be located by HS apparently, which makes sense. There is a HUGE starwars fan base, so I dont have a doubt in my mind that people will pay for this unique experience. Im a casual fan, but I think this looks pretty cool. I'd LOVE to stay there.

I'm trying to think of an IP where I would be willing to pay these prices and immerse myself in the world. Maybe Harry Potter, but since I still haven't managed to make it to Universal I'm guessing I'm not that into it.

As a Disney fan that isn't into Star Wars and has never seen a Marvel movie these announcements leave me a bit out in the cold.

Every hotel doesn't have to appeal to every constituency. There are over 10k rooms on campus for you to consider instead.

I figured it would be expensive, I hope it's not unreasonable. I would like to do this once. I could envision staying at the SW resort for a couple of nights to get the complete immersive experience, then transferring to a more reasonably priced resort for the rest of the week for the regular "Disney" vacation.
I think how you have it planned is how they have intended... I doubt it will be a place to stay for 2 weeks. It could be an excursion you book for 2-3 nights. Pricing -- like a club level suite. If you would do a club level suite now, then you probably won't find this to be unreasonable. Club level suites go for $900-$2000/nt. This will be in the same ballpark.
This is not going to be a "let's resort hop!" hotel. Guests at the hotel are being given clothing and food is included. You won't be hopping this, or making an ADR here.
The room rate is based on 2 people, and there are upcharges for every additional guest, including children. I believe the rumor is 2 night minimum. Base price for those two nights in an average season will be about $2500 for a family of 4.
This estimate seems good. $2500 for a family for 2 nights would be ok. Especially if it includes food (compare to galactic dining pkgs and $200/nt is reasonable) so you've got $400 worth right there. Beyond that, you're a little above the cost of the cheapest suites on property, and this offering is way beyond getting a club lounge with some snacks.

Honestly we will stay here at some point, no matter what. It's just that cool. Vacations are exactly for stuff like this.

So this is going to be like West World do you get to shoot first?

Note I've only seen the original version form the 70s.

They should make it so there's two options: Option A) The room and roleplay experience Option B) Just the room for those who want to experience it. This way, it can be more affordable/efficient for those just looking for a cool, themed room.

definitely would love to stay here but probably wait a few years after it opens to really get the feel if its worth the price.

There's a couple reasons why they won't.

1. Immersion. Lookee-loos harm the immersion factor.

2. Staffing. They have to have a certain critical mass of people who are all-in to justify the staffing, which is more specialty than just putting a tropical print dress on someone at a desk. If there is a cheaper option, some people might opt for it who might otherwise suck it up.

3. Exclusivity. It's the whole point.

If the cruise ship analogy holds up, then I can't wait! Typical would probably be 3 days/2 nights. Check in and your spacecruiser takes off to dock at Galaxy's Edge the next day. Spend however many hours there (assuming FP included) then reload into the spacecruiser for the journey home, checking out the next day. While onboard you will have specialty foods, costumes, entertainment, and story lines to participate in. They say that you will run into aliens, droids, and other galactic citizens. With all the immersion they are talking about Galaxy's Edge, I am wondering if the resort guests are part of that while in costume.

While the price is up there, it actually sounds kind of cheap considering. Food, park admission, clothing, cast members, etc...

Good points, I didn't look at it that way. I was looking at it from a separate building view point, like the Ariel rooms at AoA.
