Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** January 15-18, 2015

Just finished booking all our reservations for the trip. Wanted to book ESPN Zone for celebration Sunday dinner but I'm guessing it's walk up only since in reservations it says "no times available" for every date. So I might cancel out House of Blues reservation if that's the case.

I think I remember them telling me a few years back they don't take reservations on the weekends. Get there earlier than you plan to eat though, b/c that's AFC/NFC gameday. Should be over by dinnertime, but still leftover crowds.

Thank you, I got the same answer when I called. I'm super happy with all the reservations I made. Left room to try some of the quick service places I've been reading about. Overall this is going to be a fun trip. Part of my 5K costume is waiting at my front door so can't wait to get home.

Hey Everyone!

Is anyone else DYING to see the course maps for the 10K & Half??? Ahhh, can't wait. I love envisioning the course while I am doing training runs!

I will be doing the Rebel Challenge with my sister.
I can't believe I managed it, but somehow I got my husband to sign-up for the 10K with us. I should say, it may not have me, so much as the Star Wars theme. But, whatever it takes!

Running costumes almost complete. The only thing I'm missing is white capri running shorts for the 10K. I am going to be R2D2. I should have looked for these in the summer months. If anyone has had any success finding these - please share! Thanks!

For the shorts, have you looked online? Sports Authority has an outlet section on their site and might have some left over. Also, there's a site called runningwarehouse.com and they might have some. They're out of SLO and you can usually get them w/in a day or 2 and they have free shipping.

Thanks so much for the suggestiion! Great website! Unfortunately they did not have any white running capris, but I was able to get some gray ones at a good price. I can understand why white running bottoms are not popular, but I didn't think it was going to be this hard! I have a white sparkle skirt to wear over it, so I am hoping the gray ones will look ok.

Does anyone know what we should expect with the Wookie welcome party?

I've never run at Disneyland before so I'm unsure what this party will be like. Are the run parties usually very crowded? Are there lots of characters? The description says we get all of Tomorrowland, so I guess that gives us Space Mountain, Buzz, Star Tours...is that all?

This is the 1st time they've had a welcome party at DL. They've done the pasta parties and for the DL 1/2 they had a welcome run and you got a hour early at the expo and merch area, but nothing like this.

Like you said, it's the rides in Tomorrowland and they may or may not have something in the theater area next to SM. Right now it's a Big Hero 6 thing. Innoventions could be open and they have an Avengers set-up going on as well as other exhibits for people to play/look at. I'm guessing there'll be food as well as photo ops which might be better to get there there rather than on the course. At the very least, Vader, Storm Trooppers and Boba Fett; maybe the Fab 5 in SW outfits? They have a stage area by the restaurant and will most likely have the band playing.

They should be released soon, usually released by 30 days before the race weekend.

Just an FYI, while I was debating on the Wookie Party & seeing how much it cost, I noticed they are pre selling the Dooney & Burke Purses now on Active for race registrations.

It's probably not listed yet. Sometimes, even though they post the park hours, they don't add in all of the shows. I read on the other site that they're changing the show after Xmas so that could be it too.

On the first question, I know a few places at DTD open early for racers with breakfast food and I think also at DL hotel. Cannot remember which places though. But don't think any sit downs are open though.

I am fairly certain that both/either the Tangaroa Terrace and/or the little coffee/pastries/fruit shop (both on DL Hotel property) open early on race event days.

I hope you both enjoy the runDisney style of race events (it's hard not to!!)

I ran in the Avengers Half Marathon last month and also debated the cheer package for my husband and 4 year old son.
In the end, I opted against it. There are plenty of places along the race course to cheer for free.
They were able to cheer for me at the start of the race before we went into the park, again shortly after we exited the parks and started running on the city streets, and finally near the last turn before the finish line stretch.
Hopefully the course maps will be up soon so we can find similar spots to cheer for my husband as the Star Wars Half will be his turn to run and my turn to cheer (time to make new signs - my sons signs for "mommy" we're great so we need to think of fun ones for daddy now)!!
