If Disneyland is an option, their version of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is slated for Summer 2019. You could go there and see Galaxy's Edge in October 2019.
We want to go to California at one point in the next few years but with a 6 hour flight and toddler and only 7 days for a vacation, I'd rather take the 2 hour flight to Florida and get to enjoy AK and Epcot
Like nothing we have ever seen before. Pandora managed 8 hour lines to get into the land when it opened and steady 4 hour lines for its main ride for months, and that was without a massive fan base clambering for it.
I'm thinking about avoiding Disney World all together for the first year. I'm toying around with the idea of either going to Disneyland Paris or perhaps checking out Universal Studios, Seaworld and Discovery Cove.
Ok. This makes my decision. Think we will go this coming April, see Toy Story Land and then wait until fall 2020 for Star wars. I don't want to wait 1 1/2 years to go back only to have it be shoulder to shoulder. Then there's an excuse to go two times in the next 3 years!
Galaxy's Edge opening will make the Potterland opening look quiet in comparison. Expect it to be wall to wall for at least 6 months to a year. Then the hotel opens up.
Hopefully Disney knows how to organize crowds better than Universal. It will more than they've ever seen before by a long shot.
