going on a cruise Dec. 14 and considering a two day trip to WDW to see SWGE. How do you think WDW will deal with the crowds? Is it even worth going? Best strategy?

Expect crazy crowds.

WDW will probably issue hard ticket events (extra pay-for events) but will probably sell-out fast. December is usually very busy; and with Galaxy's Edge opening...expect, well, crazy crowds.

I would go anyway (i live in Europe so I wouldn't miss the chance if I was there).

We did the opening of Toy Story Land and it was crazy. I can't imagine how bad Star Wars will be.

We're planning to avoid the parks for a couple of years because there are already talks about 8 hour lines once SWGE opens. That's even before the hotel is built.

Also, keep in mind that there still isn't an official opening date - we know things are on track now, but while a late fall opening next year seems likely, LOTS can happen with a huge project like this. That is just to say, if the only reason you'd be doing the jaunt to WDW would be for SWGE you may want to have a plan B in case the date gets pushed, or the ability to enter the land is unlikely due to crowds/ticketed events/exclusive events.
