Resort Thread STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

Now that I’m setting things out for packing I feel like those heavy robes will just be too hot and wish we would not have bought them. But figured I paid for them might as well pack them.
I asked someone who was at the preview what the temp on board was like, and he said it was very cool. I assume they are keeping it well ACd for the cast members sake as well.

I just had a look at the current availability calendar. Suddenly many of the remaining departure dates through the end of September are now sold out! The earliest voyage available to book is July 23... And even August (which previously never had any sold out dates) is almost half sold out.

I guess the media buzz from the press previews has had the effect that Disney was hoping for?
No!!!!! I almost called yesterday and there was lots of availability but thought a Monday would be better. Dang it.

Thanks moderator!!!!! Most of it does “feel” like a thread for people to vent on why they won’t go or don’t like the concept. I hope to see more happy dis fans soon!
Exactly! It's like someone who hates Aulani posting in the Aulani thread to tell everyone how dumb they think Aulani is (even though they've never even been there).

Sorry y’all, I’ve been on my own media embargo and even unwatched this thread so haven’t been closely reading here. I suspect things will die down a bit now that it’s about to open for real.

One thing I am hoping someone can report on is whether there is time to change clothes during the jam packed schedule and how fancy people get dressed for dinner. I am all about an outfit change for the evening, especially after spending time in GE on day 2 in June!

I would be curious to know other's opinions on this, as well. In any case, my husband and I are definitely planning to change for dinner both nights.

Don't give up hope... If you keep an eye on the calendar, I am sure you will see dates pop up as available here and there. Even just a week ago or so, I even saw dates in March pop up as some people must have needed to cancel/change dates for one reason or another.

Thank you. LOL I have wicked flexibility but would prefer NOT to experience Batuu in July if possible.

As for outfit change, we always change for dinner. :)

I mean, you make that sound far fetched, but that sorry of thing happens all the time. When Contemporary switched to being an “incredibles” theme, there was commentary about it, some positive, some very negative. When Genie+ rolled out there was a mix of people posting their experiences and people venting a bit. On the cruise board, when details on a new cruise season are released you see people excited to plan their trips and others lamenting that a popular itinerary was changed or cut from the line up or became exorbitantly expensive. I think the Dis being a place of belonging means making room for people to express disappointment in Disney’s new offerings, to get excited, or to have mixed feelings, and not to censor those who feel differently, positive or negative.

I would classify myself as having mixed feelings. I haven’t said “definitely no” yet, more in the “unlikely we will go but I am open to being persuaded” camp. The positive posts help me because people’s excitement reminds we what is tempting me to book it, and the negative posts help keep me grounded to the reality that some aspects are less than ideal. I am really looking forward to seeing trip reports by people who paid for the experience as opposed to bloggers. It would be the most expensive two days of vacation we have ever paid for by a long shot and while we could afford it, we would have to scale back our other vacation plans in a significant way so it is a tradeoff and everyone’s perspective helps.

For people who have booked, did you go with Disney's travel insurance? Or book it on your own?

I've got some time to decide which way to go and haven't yet read the fine print on Disney's plan. I'm sure theirs is slightly overpriced but not having to bother with other options is tempting, especially since there are no other costs to our vacation that I really need to insure.

The one thing I found surprising about the costumes is Disney selling costumes that match characters in universe or Jedi. Given this is roleplaying wouldn’t that be problematic to dress as enemies of the first order? I don’t know the history of ship or Disney timeline that well but seems like costumes aren’t really designed for you to be a roleplayed character vs just playing dress up. Any thoughts or feedback to what cast members do if you dress like Jedi?

I’ve been reading lots of reviews on Twitter in which the vloggers state they didn’t wear half their outfits because they didn’t feel they had time to change clothes for fear they would miss something. They didn’t say this was a bad thing, just that they were busier and far more engaged than they had anticipated.

Hi all!
I have been following along & remember reading about the cancellation policy, but now I can't find the info. Would anyone happen to know what the policy is? How many days out prior to arrival are you able to cancel? Thinking about possibly booking for July, but want to have all the info (unfortunately the Starcruiser phone line is no longer accepting calls at this time ).
Thanks in advance!

Agree, I kinda wish they offered "normal" clothing vs costume replicas. By normal I mean of course, normal in the SW universe.

You are right, of course. Opinions are bound to come up, and should be welcomed. But let's please keep in mind the title of this thread: STAR WARS GALACTIC STARCRUISER: Official Information and Questions Thread. Meaning... the primary purpose here is to share information and ask questions. There's a fine line between sharing genuine thoughts/concerns and opinions on certain aspects... versus someone posting their personal "The Top 10 Reasons the SWGS Sux!" ;-) [I meant this as a light-hearted comment, not saying anyone did this.]

Maybe at some point in the future, there will be a separate sub-forum here in the DIS designated to the StarCruiser Galactic Starcruiser (similar to Cruiseline, ABD, etc.)? Guees we'll see!

I have no idea if this will be something we will one day do...still waiting for reviews from paying guests...but, I honestly do admire Disney for trying something really outside the box. Sure, its niche and a gamble, but I find it pretty neat that they are willing to give something like this a real shot. One thing I am really curious about is finding out more about how much you actually participate in a mission. I just have this idea in my head of sort of following a group around and pushing some buttons, but the reviews I've watched seemed to indicate it is much more involved than that (if you want it to be). I am definitely more intrigued now, having watched a few reviews, than I was before. My daughter (16) thinks it sounds super fun.

There's a starcruiser costuming group on FB, and folks there are definitely planning fancy gala type outfits for dinner. Probably easier to have time to change if you have the second dinner seating, at least that's what I am hoping!

The calendar has been updated. When I checked this morning the earliest date was July 23 and now there is early July availability.

I was on hold starting at 9:30am and completed my call at 11:25am.

I suspect the earliest we will see a full paying guest review is Thursday since that is the return date for the first cruise.
