Ok, I admit it I like Star Wars. I don't do costumes, not a Fanatic. But I now have a better reason to go to WDW each year!:happytv:
This year for the first of the Star Wars Weekends, May 20th -27th ,booked at Pop Century, but may upgrade to POFQ!
So all you Guys and Gals how about a Meet?pixiedust:

I've donned my Jedi robes for the releases of Episodes II and III, and worn either Jedi robes or my Vader mask for Halloween every year since 2001. That said, I won't be donning my Jedi robes for SWW. Orlando is way too hot, even in May, for me to consider that option. Star Wars t-shirts will be a much more comfortable option for me. I'll also be at Scopa Towers, er Pop, but am not planning on upgrading. I spend most of my time in the parks anyways.

I'm up for a meet, but I don't know the best time yet. I do have a SWW dinner booked for Saturday night that's a meet with another fansite.

I'd love to meet up... I even booked our upcoming vacation because DS will be 12 all too soon and the only thing he's asking for is to see SWW...

... and then Disney release the dates... we'll be there the last weekend in June. There are no late June SWWs this year.

*sigh* Would have been nice to meet Jedi Mickey. Add in a certain George Lucas though and I'll be there in a heartbeat. (Psst... Steven Speilberg's cool too)

By the time I go on my bday, i'll be building my own Sith lightsaber, Vader style :)

Have you been there in previous years for SWW???
How busy will it be, and expecially for the Holiday weekend??

Mel, Genesis and I go every year for SWW, normally the 2nd weekend in June so I was happy to see it over Memorial Day weekend this year when we are going. While I think HS is more crowded, it is more SW fans waiting to get their pics taken/autographs than it is them waiting to get on rides. I dont think its any busier than it typically is during that time of year. This year I will have Marie with me as well probably so while I would love to attend a dismeet not sure how that will work out with her.....

Yes ,PirateMel I went last year, but it was the third Weekend and all were in June last year. I was surprised mysefl when someone pointed out that the first Star Wars Weekends is on the Mermorial Day weekend. That is probably going to make it a bit more crowded.
When I went last year I was expecting massive crowds ,but it did not seem any worse than the other park opening rope drops that I had seen that week. (I did two morning tours.) In fact for the middle of June the only time that I really noticed the crowds were at the Magic Kingdom parades, and fireworks, plus at Illuminations in EPCOT.
I was worried after reading a few things here and a couple of other sites about people arriving at DHS at the crack of dawn to wait at the turstiles.
It may all depend on who the Guest are for each weekend I don't know. I may even change my week to go after the List of Guest speakers comes out.
It is also interesting to note that even though the DIS and Allears both have the same weekends list for the Star Wars Weekends, On the Disney Site there are still no Dates posted for it. I was hoping that when the May Calendar came out that Disney would have more info on SWW. Guess I'll have to keep watch!:smokin:
thanks for your input.pixiedust:

I read today on another site that some people begin lining up for the celebrity autograph fastpasses around 2:00am the day of the event. Others say they arrived around 6:00am and were able to to eventually receive a standby autograph ticket and were able to get the autograph.

Hello all! Big StarWars fan here, but the hubby and I are actually going down to DW in about a week and a half. I don't think we could have made may or june dates even if we'd known about them, but the star wars weekends do sound cool! As it is he and I will just have to experience the normal available fun!

Just to let you know whoever said they lined up at 2 am for a fastpass was surely exaggerating. Where would they line up?????

The gates are not open at that time. So just check the WDW calendar for your date visiting DHS and plan to be there maybe 35 before opening. That way you will not miss the stormtrooper rope drop.

And when the gates do open, just go towards the hat, but turn left as if you are going to Prime Time Restaurant. CMs there can direct you to the fastpass machines that will be used for autograph meets.

Two years ago we took our time taking photos in front of park and by the time we made it to the designated fastpass machines, there WERE lines. And we chose the line for Peter Mayhew (who portrayed Chewbacca). Our fastpass received at 9:30 am got us in line for the 2 pm meet with him. Incidentally he was very, very nice and talked with us as he signed his photo.

So maybe we'll see you there!

:goodvibes

I went in June 2007, we got there a bit before opening. There was a separate line for the autograph signing and that line was 8-10 times as long as the regular line to get into the park. While the person I was with who wanted the autograph did get one, it wasn't until late in the day. I can certainly see people lining up several hours in advance of opening; all of those people didn't appear out of nowhere 30 minutes prior.

If I were going for an autograph, I think I'd be sure to be there at least two hours before opening.

thanks for the update

guess we'll be skipping autograph lines this year

We will be attending SWW for the first time this year over Memorial Day weekend.

I am excited to read that the autograph lines are long and the ride lines are not. We have been to 3 SW Celebrations and have a zillion autographs, so we don't have to worry about that.
:cool1:

Disney has finailly made it official! they finailly put the dates on their website, and they match the ones that have been posted here for the last month!:cool1:
But they still have not put out a list of the guest speakers!:headache: I wonder if the Dis will have that information first too?:rolleyes1
The autograph lines will all depend on who the actors are and what character they were in the movie! So don't rule out autographs. Last year I went the third weekend. Neither The lines at the gate nor the lines for autographs matched what I had read about. I was told that the actor who was Darth Vader was there the week before and they ran out of fastpasses for his autograph sessions!
I think that getting pics of Mickey and friends in Star Wars gear is going to be far cooler for any kid! Pluus all the CM's dressed as characters from the movies are cool also, remember the celebrites will not be in costume!
Hope to run into some of you there, so don't for get your LGM!:thumbsup2

I'm more excited about getting my picture taken with Jedi Mickey than an autograph. The only way that would change is if they had a huge name show up, and I don't think that will happen.
