Does anyone know what star wars characters we will see at MGM? We are not going the star wars weekend b/c we thought it was all of May only to find out if is the end of May and we didn't want to change our trip. But my DS4 is a HUGE fan!

In all of our trips to WDW, we've only seen Star Wars characters just walking around 1 time (unless it was part of the Stars & Motorcars parade where you'll also see R2D2.) We've seen Luke, Leia, Chewie, Darth Vader, the Emperor & his red guards, stormtroopers, Bith (musicians from the cantina scene), and an Ewok. Vader and the stormtroopers were just pacing around by Star Tours. The Vader wasn't very good and wasn't accomodating when trying to get a picture. The stormtroopers on the other hand hammed it up very well and would grab you like they were making an arrest. The Emperor and his guards didn't stop for pictures, but would parade themselves between Star Tours and Sci-Fi. Luke and Leia were in the shaded area between Star Tours and Sci-Fi signing autographs and posing for pictures. Chewie and the Ewok did the same thing and they were next to the speeder bike.

When we were there in May 2002, we ran into the same problem as you. We booked our trip planning on attending 2 Star Wars weekends, only to find out that they canceled them that year due to Celebration 2. When we went back in May 2003, our APs expired early May, so we missed the weekends by 2 weeks.

We're headed to Celebration 3 in Indianapolis in just 2 short weeks and plan to hit a Star Wars Weekend in late May 2006.

We've been in October a couple of times and have never seen any Star Wars charcters meeting and greeting. However with the upcoming release of the new film, I think it is possible that they might have a few characters on hand in the big build up. Plus as cast members are going to be in costume for the Star Wars weekend perhaps they might be doing some dress rehersals (sp?)
I was lucky enough to meet Chewbacca many years ago at Disneyland Paris, the photo is awesome (and I look so young and slim!) My DS4 thinks it is such a cool photo.

When you get to Disney you can ask the cast members at Guest Services about what characters are about, and at what times. I understand that they are pretty helpful if you are trying to find someone in particular. Good luck!

We were there in May for the weekend a couple of years ago. There were storm troopers pacing on top of the entry ways and saying things about tourists, it was funny. Over by the star wars ride there were several characters you could take pictures with, etc. Luke and Leia, Darth, female bounty hunter, storm troopers, there were so many (at different times) I can't remember. There were also storm troopers and the emperors guards walking through. Little kids could train to be jedi knights. Lots of guests were dressed up or just carrying light sabers. It was fun, not hugely elaborate, but we enjoyed it.

We have been to Star Wars weekends the last 3 years and are going back again this year. All of the action is located around the Star Tours ride. My son (age 6) was selected for Jedi training and got to fight Darth Maul in a light saber duel. About 20 kids get selected to fight Darth Vader or Darth Maul on a stage next to the ride. They have about 4 or 5 trainings per day. Also you can see Darth Vader, Chewy, Hans Solo, Luke, and stormtroopers, sand people, iwoks walking around the area....It is really cool if you enjoy star wars

I was in MGM this past Saturday and Darth Vader was outside of Star Tours posing for photos. So, as mentioned before, you can check with guest services and they can tell you if and when any of the characters will be where.

Man, you guys are forgetting the best part - Jedi Mickey! You can get your picture with Jedi Mickey. My DS6 had his ears on. It was awesome.

The Who Wants to be a Millionaire show also has some Star Wars-themed times.

Going for the 1st time this year! My 5 yr old is now into SW, so he is really looking forward to it...........and so am I. :earboy2:

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we will run into somebody. Actually my ds4 will be excited to just see someone from Star Wars in the parade. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
