Star Wars After Dark Questions

My DD wants to attend the Star Wars after Dark event. My DD is neurodivergent so there are some things I need to take into consideration. I try really hard to make the necessary accommodations ourselves. I have a couple of questions.

I have scheduled our trip such that we have 2 tries for tickets. However I really would like to have April 28th. We fly in that morning and would work perfect for us. Do you think that would be hard to get tickets for that night? I am worried that I am up against the vloggers and key holders.

Will Disneyland have fireworks that night? My DD wants to see them from Galaxy’s Edge. I am thinking of doing the meal package so we don’t have to stand forever. Sitting forever she can do.

Neither of us have ever seen Paint the Night Parade. Will that be nightly? We could see that either on Wednesday or Friday night. If Disneyland moves to having the parade and fireworks on weekends only, then we will have conflict on Friday night - fireworks or parade. I am not sure we could do both.

I guess I could try for the 28th and if I don’t get them then but get tickets for the 30th we could change our flights, park and hotel reservations to fly home on Sunday instead of Saturday. That does put me in a bind with a cute grandchild’s 1st birthday party. This cutie was born on Star Wars day and is the reason we aren’t going on May 4th

When we went to Star Wars nite they had special fireworks for the event. It would be easy to go watch from Galaxy's Edge and I don't think you'll need a dining package. There are various places you can watch from around GE and I'm not sure if they even have dining packages that night but if they did you could get one if it would help with your planning.

I don't think vloggers etc will get in the way of you getting tickets. But tickets do go fast so I'd make sure you're home at the time/day they go on sale.

I'd assume PTN will be nightly in April but they haven't posted the schedule yet so there's no way to be sure.

How old is your DD? I took my neurodivergent DD to Star Wars nite a few years ago and we had a wonderful time. It was one of our favorite Disneyland trips! She made a light saber at Star Trader. It was only $30 or something around that and she still has it :)

Have fun!

Did you happen to attend last year on May 4? Or was it possibly before 2024? Unfortunately the Star Wars nights did not have fireworks in 2024 and 2025, and weren't listed as entertainment offerings for the parties. However, if memory serves, I believe they did a special surprise/not promoted fireworks show last year just on May 4 (plus Diego Luna). I skipped it last year, but did attend Pride Night.

I believe the two Pride Nights in June are the only After Dark events that still promise fireworks in the event descriptions on the website, or at least have up to recently. Full event details for both Star Wars and Pride are still pending, so hopefully that at least will continue!

Oh, mine was in 2022 so I guess things have changed!

My DD is in her 30s. She made a lightsaber at Savi’s a couple years ago. She is planning on taking that and has already talked to our airlines. We know there is no problem with TSA.

She is really wanting to get characters and to do the parade down Main Street that night. She is planning on dressing as Rae(?). I just know that she will stay until the end, which will be interesting.

Just a heads up...the lines for characters are LOOOOONG! Be aware if she has trouble standing, as you mentioned. This is the main deal for Star Wars Night and I was pleasantly surprised by that as it meant no one was at the rides. Also, long lines for some of the photo ops...I waited maybe 30 minutes or more for the Emperor's chair, hence, that was only one I did. Lines were especially long for whoever was in Adventureland (clogging up the walkway long) and the Ewoks down near Pooh.

Many of the characters are just walk throughs...Darth Maul was in Tomorrowland on the stage and Queen Amidala (who was not very busy at the end of the night) was very engaging and talkative.

I, too, will be going those dates and I hope you have a magical trip!

Thanks for that information.

I am a great line stander. If necessary, I will stand in line for her. I actually have no desire to meet the characters (horrible but I have not watched anything Star Wars). When I stand in line for her, I always announce to those around me that I am standing in line for her or that 1 more person will be joining me. I know that it is frowned upon but I am honest and upfront and haven’t had any problems. If someone has a problem, I would gladly let them go in front of me or get out of the line all together.

I hope you have a wonderful trip as well.
