Who else is going tonight!!!! I'll see if I can get a video of it but it sounds like there is going to be projections all over the place...

FYI: Last night from home I was awoken about 12:30am to hear and see some of the high altitude fireworks of the new show. It sounded a little light on the fireworks side but who knows if it was the full show they tested last night. aka: I'm going to make sure I'm in a good spot for the projections.

There is a great thread on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategy forum (http://www.disboards.com/threads/of...rks-dessert-party-launch-bay.3439569/page-415) and a number of people from there are planning to meet up for the show tonight

Note from the producer (seems like a lot of passion from true fans went into making this show):

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
with that simple phrase my generation was introduced to STAR WARS. Now, 39 years later, I am part of an amazing team that will bring STAR WARS: A GALACTIC SPECTACULAR to the guests of Walt Disney World Resort. I was 8 years old in May of 1977. For me personally, STAR WARS defined my childhood. My world changed the first time I saw that Star Destroyer, heard that iconic John Williams score and made the jump to lightspeed.

For 39 years, I have been a fan. I still have my original action figures, and have spent a small fortune on countless comic books, replicas, books, action figures, musical recordings and countless versions of the films on VHS, DVD, and Bluray.

And tonight, after many hours of planning, production and hard work, we open your show. It now belongs to you. Thank you to our band of Rebels... (He goes to thank everyone on the team)

The show is a celebration of the saga, told through effects, music, lighting, projection and pyrotechnics, but the most important ingredient is heart. Star Wars means so much to so many. This show was made for mass consumption, regardless of your level of geekdom, but if you are one of those that knows the Millennium Falcon made the Kessel Run in twelve parsecs, that C-3PO is fluent in more than 6 million languages, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is 3720 to 1, or that Han shot first… If you are one of those, this show was made for you. May the Force be with us… it’s real, all of it."

I hope they post future park hours (past summer - into fall) that include this show soon...

Nice to hear. Loved the Star Wars fireworks, esp the massive ending. Was afraid that part would go away, but the rest should more than make up for it I hope.

When I saw them testing for the previous show, they didn't test everything, so I'

I could hear them last night, and it definitely sounded like there will be a pretty big finale. If they did the full show, it was a pretty consistent rumble, though I didn't time it

Thanks for this. I found ticket still available for the desert party so I figured why not, opening night, good seat, somethign to snack on while standing around for an hour, maybe even a nice seat.. ;) Since nobody really knows what to expect, why not pay a little extra for what disney thinks is a sellable spot.

I think it will be great especially with wanting to see the projections

I don't think there are seats - just st high top tables- but I think people sometimes sit on the ground and can see from there

Does any one know the schedule for these fireworks in July?

I've been wondering about this myself. I am coming down for the 4th and I want to make sure I see them one night. Since they are so new, with DHS do a different 4th of July fireworks? If so, I hope they only change over for 1 night unlike MK and Epcot.

Here now, there is some trees between desert area and buildings. Ill be back after to give my opinion of where to be.

Btw, disney just lost money from me. I was going to raid the echolake food booths but they are closed

Whoa............ you want to have a full view of the entire great movie ride. Center is great, in front of trees better. Video is uploading, i was a little side of center. Fireworks are 360, lights in trees, surround sound so thing fly around you. Well done, cut down the trees!! Oh and lasers, great spotlight usage, awsome start. Perfectly timed, not many loud booming fireworks so visually they line up great.

Traffic was insane.. over an hour to get out of the parking lot...

Here is my video of it, this was from the desert party just to the left. You'll see some others around youtube where they could see the whole building. Not horrible with the tree there but *** is there a tree there for? disney did this to the mk hub as well. Projections really don't work well when they are behind a tree..

There are spots in the desert party more in the center but they got snagged fast.. This is a be early and get a good building view show.

Personally, I was really disappointed in the show. I liked the Symphony in the Stats better. Galacric Spectacular has much fewer fireworks and if you are further back on the Main Street (past sunset Blvd) you can barely see anything. I saw the tops of fireworks and parts of projections. Disney is a crowded place, you'd think they'd want to increase visibility. Instead they took the fireworks, which were really hard to miss, and turned it into a show which, unless you happen to be one of the relatively few who were close, isn't that spectacular. Now, I'm not saying it is terrible, and it's probably great if you happen to get a close spot. But waiting all that time to steak out a good spot for the show..? Not worth it to me personally.

Dang was afraid of that. It seems even more narrow with those projection towers. We usually end up in the front though, so hopefully that wont be too challenging.

What a great video, now I can't wait to see the show. Maybe I can grab a dessert party ticket so I get a good seat.

Dang, that is pretty impressive. More "screen video area" than I thought.

Thanks for posting.

Can't wait for it in person. Might head down there soon partly for this.

Watching now on YouTube. I know it's not the same as being there in person, but I am extremely disappointed. I guess this is the end of good DHS fireworks :( my husband and I are huge Star Wars fans. We'd both rather have frozen fireworks than this new show. Pity party... the previous show was our absolute favorite nighttime spectacular. We are so sad to see this awful change.

What is with the fireworks on the right side and flares on the left? It's uneven with barely any fireworks for that matter.
It's no longer a spectacular celebrating the music of John Williams. It's a highlight reel with lazers, light beams and uneven pyrotechnics. /rant

the "flares" as you call them are all around you, it's not just on the left, it's coming from the side buildings (brown derby and the old american idol building).

The new launch site being to the right seemed off to me also. My only thoughts on that is maybe we don't know all the contruction planned yet and echo lake is going to be revamped a lot. It also seems to fall in an area that maybe they plan to move the show into star wars land in the future, that would line up really well with that..

As a star wars fan, I think you'll love this. The projections aren't just tossed together clips like other ones.. It's well thought out and interwoven with firework highlights. I enjoyed it very much and it's a little different in person.

They finally updated hours and fireworks times past July 2nd, only two weeks out! For the rest of July DHS closes at 9:30, the only Fantasmic show is at 9 p.m, and the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Fireworks are now at 9:15. Aside from Disney's particularly disappointing decision to make us choose one or the other, won't the pyrotechnics from the two shows disrupt each other?

We often see and hear some of the the Illuminations fireworks from the Fantasmic! theater. The new Star Wars show would have to be a massive step down from SitS for the fireworks to not be seen and heard across the same park!

Any input from those who have seen the new SW show?
