Star Trek

This cracked me up, when I saw the movie one little kid asked,"Why did Spock not eat that guy's brain?". I laughed since I love Heroes and it was just cute.

I loved it too and I was surprised! I also think both Zach and Chris were HOT! I watch heroes and liked seeing Zachary in this role.

Leonard Nemoy was awesome! He was on Fringe last week as well and he was also on Saturday night live last week with Chris and Zachary. He is making the rounds!

I am only a "casual Trekkie" - not a new-style Trekker - in that I've seen several of the original Star Trek shows, and at least know who Capt. James T. Kirk, Spock, Bones McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Checkov, and the others are.

That said, I thought the movie was excellent. They really did a nice job in filling in the pre-story, and fit the characters nicely. And yes, both leads, Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine, hit it right on their characters. They may not look exactly like William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, but they embodied the spirit of their characters perfectly.

Oh, but my one complaint:

I don't know where young Kirk was driving, but that was NOT Iowa!!! We don't have canyons and rock cliffs like that in Iowa, and CERTAINLY not in Riverside, Iowa, which is the future birthplace of James T. Kirk.

No canyons and rock cliffs --yet.

Someone refresh my memory. In the Wrath of Khan, when Admiral Kirk explaining his success in the Kobayashi Maru to Lt. Savik, wasn't he eating an apple? If so, did you notice young Kirk was eating an apple while beating the "No Win Situation?"

BTW, I loved the new McCoy! he took DeForest Kelly's interpretation of the character and did a fantastic job!

I believe that in Wrath of Kahn, Kirk is eating an apple while in the Genesis cave when he is telling Savik about how he "changed the conditions of the test." I caught that, too (when Chris Pine's Kirk was eating an apple during the Kobayashi Maru) and thought it was a nice "nod." :goodvibes

My take was that they were futuristic "skyscrapers"..... :confused3

Not to mention hitting Atlanta's Dragoncon Labor Day Weekend... :thumbsup2:cool1:

Now if they can get Chris on the guest list......

The true Star Trek Fanatic has always been a "Trekker."

I now have the task of taking my DS to see the movie. I guess I can handle a bit more Spock.

I made a 2 hour trip to Pittsburgh area to see this movie on an Imax screen!
It was awesome!!!!

I went to my first Star Trek Convention in 1975 when I was 12, been an obsessed fan my whole life, and I honestly never heard anything but Trekkie until The Next Generation came out in the 1980's. Then I found out that Trekkie was passe'!

DH took me out on our first "date" in a very long time last night and we went to see Star Trek. I loved it! I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

SSB loved it as well... already seen twice and would not mind a third time. WELL done!

Yes, yes...young Spock is HOT. Thinking of sneaking back over to see it one more time before the kids get out of school next week.

Ditto on the Iowa thing. Sitting here in Iowa right now. Not seeing anything but dirt fields waiting for the corn to pop up. No cliffs.:sad2:

Is this Star Trek movie OK for kids to see it? We have a 8 yr old DS. We would love to see it this weekend.
