Star Trek orginis movie

My father used to say, "Opinions are like ......, everyone has one."

So, is the new Star Trek movie one to buy or rent? I love movies, and generally purchase movies if when they are on tv (lke tbs) I will stop and watch it. Is Star Trek one of those movies?

We just rented it last week.

We enjoy Star Trek but I didn't think this one was a keeper though.

I really liked all of the characters except for Lt. Ohra??? (sp)

It is fun to watch though.

Both DH and I are big Trekkies (not Trekkers, we're too old for that ) and we loved this movie. We really enjoyed the inside jokes and the way they portrayed the characteristics of the original characters - especially Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy. Two Thumbs Way Up

I'm a total Star Trek nerd (I used to go to the movies on opening night with my dh in college) and I loved it. Much much better than the last two next gen movies. We definitely want it. You could always rent it first then decide.

I really liked the movie too but then again maybe part of it was the fact that I was watching it on a huge Imax screen.

Seeing the Enterprise on such a huge screen was awesome.

I have a feeling though that watching it on a small 27" screen that its going to lose some of its impact.

Like another poster mentioned I really liked the McCoy character in this movie.
The green alien girl was pretty hot too

We saw at the Imax the first time as well - it was at Kennedy Space Center right after a shuttle launch. Talk about being in the mood It's not as overwhelming, obviously, on the small screen but still very exciting.

We bought it - my husband loves Star Trek - I've never been a huge fan - we both love this movie - we've watched it twice already - I say buy it

Buy it...best of the entire series after Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Wrath of Khan.

We bought it today in Blu-ray, we love it! Great movie! They did such a great job of finding actors to portray the younger versions of all the main characters! I love young Scottie!!

I saw this in the theater and watched it last night. It's not only the best Star Trek movie to date, it's also an almost perfect movie (minus Eric Bana). It's one of the few movies that I've not felt guilty about spending $9 to see in the theater as I left, and I loved it as much last night. I would say, buy it.

I say BUY IT. I've got mine on order with Harry Potter and Terminator from Amazon. This not-so-old Trekkie was broke when it came out.... bleh.

I'm just waiting for them to start hitting the convention circuit!

I wasn't so impressed with the imax "experience" having been spoiled by true IMAX at Discovery Place in Charlotte (half-spherical screen with seats at a 45-degree angle to see all).

Yes, I remember back when I read that Karl Urban would be bones, which I really couldn't picture since I only knew his role in Lord of the Rings, but he played it very well

I liked the whole cast except for Chekov, he seemed like an afterthought
