When is it supposed to be open? We will be at DL May 21-25 and are hoping to see it.

Nobody knows for sure yet, although there was a recent Disney press release that stated it would open in the "summer", which doesn't bode well for May trips. WoC was advertised as opening in the "spring". It did...on June 11th. So "summer" is probably late June.

However, it's all speculation right now. One thing is pretty certain is that Ariel's Undersea Adventure and the new Soundsational parade will probably open at the same time as Star Tours II also. It's timing all 3 of these openings together that is leaving an official date up in the air right now.

The truth is we just aren't sure! There was a lot of buzz lately about a Disney press release mentioned at the top of this page: http://www.mouseplanet.com/9538/Disneyland_Resort_Update

While the Star Tours 2.0 at WDW is supposed to debut on May 20, that article says that the Disneyland version won't open until June, so I'm sorry to say you will likely miss it. Hey, you can always cross your fingers for a soft opening though!

POTC 4 Movie Premiere at DL in May - Probably May 14

Star Tours at WDW is going to open May 20 - that is in advance of their "Star Wars Weekends". Since DL does not have Star Wars Weekends (yet ) there is no pressure to roll it out in May.

The pressure point then becomes summer promotions which for Disneyland usually means early to mid-June time frame.

for the info (Al's). I am hoping for a soft opening, but it will be ok if we don't get to see ST or Ariel. They will be there next time (and there WILL be a next time! LOL). In fact, I like it this way better, if it were opening week while we were there, I am sure the crowds would be WAY, WAY bigger. And I usually try to avoid the most crowded times!

Yes, soft openings are when the rides are open before the anounced grand opening. They may be open all day or just part of the day, maybe just a couple of hours. Nothing is scheduled or announced. They do it so they can shake down the rides. If they have issues they can close it down at any time.

I hope the Little Mermaid ride is going to be a good one! Very excited for that .. it was my favorite movie when i was little!!! ...along with every other princess movie and 101 dalmations

Well, it's going to be completely different from the first Star Tours. I believe the setting will be after the fall of the Republic (after episode 3) and before Vader + Sidious's reign (before episode 4). Also, it's confirmed that C-3PO, Darth Vader, and more that I can't think of at the moment will be in the ride. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. In addition to the plot/setting, the technology is going to be much, much more updated as well. I think it's going to be in 3D. I'm also excited for the queue! I hope they do some great changes to it...

Gahh, I REALLY hope that Star Tours 2.0 and Little Mermaid will BOTH be open when I'm there (May 31st-June 4). Or at least soft openings.

Oh ok i see! Thanks for the info! Sounds like it should be pretty fun!

Oh and yes.. no doubts here either.. deep down I know the Little Mermaid will be great! and if it's not.. well I just won't think that way It's disney and it's Little Mermaid... amazing.

Hopefully you will be able to ride both rides during your stay at the end of may early june! fingers crossed!
