Star Tours

Hi all,
does anyone have any info on this ride? I'm I correct to assume it is a "motion simulator" type ride?

Has anyone felt car sick on it? Would it be suitable for a 4(nr 5) and 6 year old? I notice the disney site says no under 3yrs. My 2 like (love!!) rollercoasters, but don't know what this would be like at all.

I do get car sick on it

It's always too warm in there + too close to a screen that doesn't offer enough contrast

ETA: I can go 6 times in a row on Indy-rollercoaster and be fine, it's just this ride that gets me sick. And the teacups...

Went on Star Tours for the first time two weeks ago, thoroughly enjoyed it, however
DD6 did not - came out crying
DD5 loved it
DS5 loved it

They all believed that we took off and flew - proof that a childs imagination is one of the most wonderful things in todays world.

Both mine loved it youngest was 5 first time, I think it's a dreadful ride and spend it clinging to the arms of the seat, looking at the floor and trying to pretend that I'm enjoying it - I'm always relieved when it comes to a stop.

I found that as a 'short' adult (5ft) my feet didn't reach the floor in the back row and the ride was quite uncomfortable. The second time I tried we were nearer the front and the seats were lower there of course. That time it was great!! I get car sick on windy roads but not on this.

When I really HAVE to go on the ride (moral obligation by the others that are there with me), I just close my eyes and hope it'll be over soon.
However, many people (including my brother) love the ride.
For me, it's mostly the heat that is too much. If I go on it during summer (and not wearing winter coat and sweater), I'm a little better, but during the winter... last time I took off my coat but still... I came out looking this colour:

my little girl loved this ride last summer aged five.
it's good if you can watch the star wars movies first.
we sat at the front.
if you get ill you could put your feet on the floor and look at things other than the screen. we were fine though.

I'm the wimpy sort who doesn't do any rollercoasters, but I thought I would give Star Tours a go. I didn't watch the screen because that just caused my stomach to flip violently, but even looking away at the floor didn't help too much. I felt really very queasy by the time it finished - a bit like morning sickness in pregnancy.

I didn't think it was too bad. I didn't love it or hate it, it was just another experience. Although I've never seen any star wars films so knew very little about it. I wouldn't queue for it, but would prob go on again if there was no queue.
The friend I was with was not very keen on it although her son (7) enjoyed it.
My DD (8) started off ok but then started panicking because at one point when it tipped forward she felt like she was going to slide out under her seatbelt. It meant I missed some of the end calming her down.

It was warm when we went but not ridiculously as we put the coats under the seat. It was the most effective simmulator I've ever been on though.

When I went on this ride in Japan oh so many moons ago (about 10 years!) I loved it I must've been 14 at the time, but can you believe I cried my eyes out on Space Mountain!?
I'm not sure if my4 yr old to be in May will like this one...

I love simulators!

I went on with my daughters aged 9 and 6. They both enjoyed it but we sat at the back. I got off feeling quite sick. I can ride roller coasters but did feel sick on this. It does throw you round a bit and I was pleased that I did not take my 3 year old boy on because I dont think he would have enjoyed it. I did think it was good though and I would go on it next time - minus my little boy again!!!!

My kids have been going on it since my DS was 3 and my DD was 5 and they love it, it's a must do for us and just two weeks ago both my kids (now 6 & 8) went on Rock n' Roller Coaster 5 times in a row and then again the next day, I went on it once and for me it's a no no, didn't feel great , a bit green but they love it!

We've been taking our kids to theme parks since they were born which I think is why they have absolutely no fear of these things!!

I think that this ride is not 'unsuitable' for young children as such, but you will find some who will love it and some who will hate it. Personally I have been on it about 6 times and usually love it, although the last time I felt really sick for some reason! I don't think it makes kids sick though (depending on how much ice cream they have eaten). Having said that, I won't be taking my 4 year old on it as I am sure she will hate it!

I love this ride, and have done since I was 6. My mum also really enjoys it. I think some sim rides in general make people feel ill, and i'm usually one of them, but this one never ever has. it's really just a judgement call, but if they watch star wars before they go they will LOVE it!!

Thanks, I had the feeling it may be one for me to avoid - I get sick in a car on winding roads and even standing on a pier looking at the sea!!!

Can the kids both go on at the same time with their dad? Or is it a one adult one child ride? The only reason I do BTM is they won't let both kids on with their dad (they are too small to be allowed to sit side by side on their own, but big enough to get on).
Mind you, my eldest was sick ALL over the ferry once, so I think we may just skip it anyhow.

I think they would both be allowed on with their Dad, there are several rows of like 6 seats or something (can't remember how many exactly, but definately more than 3), so he could sit with one child on each side.

We went on with our nephews and they were both 3 years old.....1st time they hated it but they went back on and loved it They felt real grown up
