Star Tours for 4 year old

I can speak from personal experience that I was 4 when the original ride was released at Disneyland and it freaked me out! I cried/screamed the entire time. This was the version in 1987 - so I don't know how 3D glasses and the new special effects would relate to a new generation but... may be a little intense?

Lots of little kids on it two weeks ago. They seemed to love it. If the kid likes Star Wars, all the better.

My almost 6 year old loved it. He rode it with his Dad when he just turned four and remembered it positively enough to want to ride again this past trip. It is intense, so I think it depends on the kid. My son is generally game for most rides (he rode ToT, but was a bit shaken afterwards). My DD, who hates most rides, loved Star Tours, but she's 13. We rode it several times in a row. It's probably our favorite ride in HS.

My daughter was going on it when she was 4 and loved it. She first started going on it when she was 3 and wanted to keep going on it over and over. She is now 6 and she still says it is her favorite ride. Didn't scare her at all and really made her want to watch the movies

As an adult I rode it with my adult sister and she hated it. But she dislikes TSMM for the same reasons too (too much shaking about!)

It's basically a go-motion ride and I personally thought it was mostly tame (especially compared to Escape from Gringotts and SpiderMan rides at Universal). There's rocking back and forth and tilting forward and back but nothing really extreme and the video on-screen is nothing more than you'd see in the movies.

It could easily scare or thrill a 4 year old so it's really a personal call.

We went last year at the end of August. My son turned four May 21, so he was four years and three months, and he loved it. We rode it several times. Just tell your child to hold on!

BTW, my son is afraid of Barn Stormer, Seven Dwarves and Splash Mountain, all of which he could have ridden last year. He rode Barn Stormer and then wouldn't give the other two a chance. He has no problem with Soarin or Star Tours. He says he wants to try the rollercoasters again this year, so we'll see.

My four year old rode it five or six times last week and really liked it. It wasn't her favorite (she preferred the mountains and ToT). She wasn't scared at all and I don't remember any other kids acting scared after the ride was over. We worked really hard to stress to her that the rides were not real and that they occasionally might try to scare her (Everest, Dinosaur), but that mom or dad would be next to her the entire time. She actually laughed after getting off Everest at the "silly monster," lol!

I think star tours will be fine! Tell you kiddo to take off he glasses if it gets too scary.

My son loved it at 4. He's 6 now and still loves it, and RNRC, and TOT, and EE, and SpM, and MS, but won't ride the Haunted mansion because it scares him.

My little guy rode it at 4, almost 5 and LOVED it - rode TOT that same day and was scared to death, and questioned why I let him ride such a scary ride. If the child shows interest in the ride, I'd say go for it!

My 4 year old was not thrilled with it, but eventually got comfortable enough to ride it. He was fine the first ride since he didn't know what to expect, the second ride he protested a bit at the entrance near the forest, but I just picked him up and carried him in and he was OK by the time we got on the ride. After that he would get on but he definitely was not excited about it. I normally wouldn't force a child to ride, but I've got 5 other kids that love it and there's really only one other ride that we do at HS (TSMM). We also had the same issues with Splash, BTMRR and even once with 7DMT. Some kids love them all though. I'd at least try it once and see how he reacts.

My then-four year old rode it last summer and loved it. We rode it many times. She also liked Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and SDMT, so she enjoys thrill rides.

Only you'll know the answer to that question. It depends on if your child is frightened by that kind of stuff. It has loud noises, the sensation of flight and quick movements and "strange" characters. If they like Star Wars movies or cartoons and aren't easily scared, they'll be fine. But if they're timid, then no, they may not like it. My twins rode it when they were 4. My son loved it. His twin sister, not so much. They're almost 9 and they both love it. We've been on it 5 times so far this trip (my oldest who is now 12 is in LOVE with it).

So truly, it'll depend on your child.

My daughter was 4 on our trip last summer. We went on it 4 times in a row right before closing and she loved it more and more every time! Our son was 5 the first time he went on it and he loved it too. He's much more reserved and age 11 is scared of rides with too much going on but still loves Star Tours. So in my experience, scaredy-cat and dare-devil both loved it! :)

My son loved it at that age.

Helpful hint when they are on the shorter side (but still hitting the height req of course), have them sit criss-cross on the seat. It really helps them to not slide further and further on their rears.

My 4 year old son LOVED it! It was his favorite ride. It had no line for the hour and a half before park close, and we rode it over and over and over- as fast as his little legs could carry him from the ride exit to the entrance. He talked to C3PO at the beginning like the animatronic was really him. It was great! The next day, we did a second day at Magic Kingdom. I had dinner reservations at Be Our Guest and the parades planned for that day. My son was so bored and kept asking to go back to Star Tours (we didn't get hopper because it was only a 5 day trip and it was his first time- everyone said little ones love the Magic Kingdom the most, so I planned 2 days there, but it wasn't true for our son. I we will always get the hopper in the future.)

If your child likes Star Wars, then this could be a hit.

The same thing happened to us last year, but, fortunately, we had Park Hopper. We ended up doing a second MK day at Hollywood Studios because DS4 wanted to do Star Tours and Jedi Training again!
