Star Tours and Motion Sickness

I have to chime in with a different perspective. I don't get motion sickness at all and the old version of ST never made me sick. However, now that ST is 3D I cannot ride it without having the worst headache and equilibrium problems. I already know that I have a problem with watching things in 3D (one of the reasons why I haven't been happy with Hollywood's fascination with 3D feature films) so I try to stay away from it at all times. I rode ST 2.0 3 different times and after the final time, I have sworn off it completely (which is horrible as I am a huge Star Wars fan).

So just be aware that 3D might cause motion sickness issues along with the improved ride simulators. HTH!

Ugh, thank you! I had zero problems with the old one generally and am very prone to motion sickness. But I have issues with 3D so that combined with motion sickness --well, I think mom will be waiting outside...

Just back....After all feedback I decided to take some gravol which worked great (no puke-fest). BTW...Star Tours was awesome!

As a kid, about age 9 or 10, we went on Star Tours. When we got off, I told my dad "I don't feel well". I was told basically to suck it up. Not the greatest advice - if only my dad knew about the bonine/dramamine trick the PP's have suggested back then. Moments later, while waiting in line for the Submarine Voyage (now Finding Nemo Subs), the pukefest began.

As a teenager, I braved Star Tours again, and have done fine on the old and new versions since then.

Cant comment on the new ST as i'm just too chicken to ride it but the old version is a no go for me! As a kid I loved the old version at Disneyland Paris, it made my mom feel sick for hours after but I was fine, during a visit for my 21st birthday we were evacuated from the ride when someone in the back row puked. The castmembers cleaned it up but gave us the choice whether to board the ride, after the smell and the motion there was no way I was getting on that ride, and unfortunately I've avoided it ever since!

The ride used to make me sick when it was the old way, now it doesn't affect me at all. For reference I get nauseated riding Space (so bad I rarely ride it at all) and Screamin' and I can't ride the teacups at all.

Glad to hear this worked for you! I use Bonine for Space and Screamin'. :)
