Star Island Resort and Club?

My inlaws own timeshare and are considering this resort in Kissimmee. Thoughts? Location? Thanks!!

We own a timeshare and this is our home resort. Its location is great. Its approximately at the junction of 535 and Irlo Bronson highway.

There's a publix close by, as well as a Target. There's a TGIFridays near the entrance of the resort and they deliver. There are several pools, tennis courts, water sports equipment available for rent.

We own an A/B side. The A side is a kitchen, dining area, living room area, all open plan. There is a master suite, complete with a king size bed, jacuzzi, separate toilet and shower area. There is also a balcony, accessible from both the master suite and the living area. In the living area, the couch also folds out.

The B side is smaller, with two bedrooms. One bedroom has a kitchenette, with a small fridge and a counter top. The bed is a full size. The other room has two double beds. There is a common bathroom with a standard size tub but that also has jacuzzi jets.

The decor is dated, but the A side is especially spacious. The younger members of our group did the parks during the day, enjoyed the pools at night. The older members of the group stayed at the timeshare most of the time. There were activities every day.

In terms of location to the parks, its about 5 miles to WDW. Its a short distance to the Premium outlets. There is plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

I guess it really depends on what you are looking for in a resort. Our stays there have always been pleasant. The resort is clean and well maintained, the location is convenient for all sorts of activities. The biggest drawback would be its dated pastel look, but for us, that's really the least of our worries. The gatehouse was always staffed and they were sure to only admit guests, which was a comfort to us in terms of security.

We stayed there 2 years ago in a three bedroom on a family vacation with six of us - three teenagers. Yes, the decor was a little dated -think 90's mauve grays and purple but it was very clean and well maintained. Washers and dryers were not in the unit but they were free to use on the ground level.The pool area was very nice with zero entry and they had a very nice gym. Although along a busy highway, it was set far enough back that there was no traffic noise. We used 535 to get to the parks. We got a good price on hotels.com. I would stay there again. I stayed there for "free" on a "Get Up and Go" promotion that Cendant had (and I think they still have) back in March 2006. It was my first trip to Orlando. I found the location to be great; as stated above, there is a lot of shopping nearby, including a HUGE WalMart, which is a great place to buy souvenirs. The drive to Disney is quite short.
When you arrive, don't be discouraged by how tacky the Highway is. Once you approach Star Island, and go over the little bridge, you are in a different world!
The grounds are beautiful, with several lakes. There are many activities offered. When I arrived, I sat at a picnic table by the big lake waiting for my room. I hardly saw another soul (the swimming pools were on the other side of the building), and it was just great and relaxing--and incredibly quiet.
The downside was, I was all the way in the back in an B lockout. The room was nice, but not as nice as an A. The walls were paper thin, and I couldn't open any shades, as the front room was on the path between other units, and the bedroom window was on the staircase.
Anyway, I must have liked it, because a few months ago I bought a timeshare there on eBay--at a rock bottom price.
