I stayed there for "free" on a "Get Up and Go" promotion that Cendant had (and I think they still have) back in March 2006. It was my first trip to Orlando. I found the location to be great; as stated above, there is a lot of shopping nearby, including a HUGE
WalMart, which is a great place to buy souvenirs. The drive to Disney is quite short.
When you arrive, don't be discouraged by how tacky the Highway is. Once you approach Star Island, and go over the little bridge, you are in a different world!
The grounds are beautiful, with several lakes. There are many activities offered. When I arrived, I sat at a picnic table by the big lake waiting for my room. I hardly saw another soul (the swimming pools were on the other side of the building), and it was just great and relaxing--and incredibly quiet.
The downside was, I was all the way in the back in an B lockout. The room was nice, but not as nice as an A. The walls were paper thin, and I couldn't open any shades, as the front room was on the path between other units, and the bedroom window was on the staircase.
Anyway, I must have liked it, because a few months ago I bought a timeshare there on eBay--at a rock bottom price.
