Standby wait times

We were in Orlando from Feb 17-27 and I was really surprised by the wait times being inaccurate. I had figured from everything that i had read that there are sometimes some discrepancies but generally everything ran roughly (within 5 min ish) to the time that was listed. We visited all the Disney parks and Universal and we found that they were almost never accurate. 15 min wait could mean that we would basically walk on (5 min wait at most) or it was going to be at least 30. There was only a few times where the wait posted at any ride in any park was actually what we stood in line for. It wasnt the biggest problem, but it was a bit frustrating going in a 10 min line and actually waiting for 40 (dont get me wrong we very much enjoyed the ones that were 30-40 being more like 10 of course lol) :cool1:

Is this the norm now? Is it due to the fast pass +? I dont mind waiting if its something i really want to do but id like the times to be a little closer to reality.

Also we found that most days at least 3/4 of the rides were 30-60 minute waits... and this was on what was considered to be a 3-5 crowd rating day. Is that also the new norm?:confused3

Was this basically first thing in the morning or later on during the day or maybe both? I last visited in Dec and found they were OK then, but did notice back up lines to enter FP due to having to scan bands. Once I got through tho it was fast. I'll let others chime in on the speculation on the waits. I've read some good points that I agree with but haven't experienced it myself.

We were there during the same time (Feb 19 - March 3) and experienced the same thing. The posted standby times were inaccurate, the app didn't always reflect the posted time and touring plans wait times were inaccurate, too. I think FP is definitely part of the reason. If a lot of people show up at once for FP, the stand-by times are going to increase. In our experience, it didn't matter what time of day, posted wait times, the app and touring plans had inaccurate times.

It was all times of the day, although it was less inaccurate in the morning when the wait times were less anyways. We started guessing how long the wait really was for the line... Kept us occupied at least lol

We noticed the same thing (Feb 9-26) and yes, at all parks.

It wasn't always more, it just wasn't usually right. I think it depends on the number of FP holders that show up to ride, or don't show up while you're in line vs while they're timing the SB line before they post the wait time.
