We booked 9 nights at ASMu in the 2nd week of September, standard rooms.
We don't mind the walking in the morning but now DH and I are wondering if arriving at night will make a difference with our 6 & 8 year old kids.
So, I'm thinking to see in which building they put us at check-in, and if we don't like it asking to move us to Preferred (Calypso or Jazz).
Are we risking it by waiting until check-in? Should we ask to be upgraded now? Since it's low season, I guess we should be fine.

What do you think? :confused3

Thanks for your help!!!

Don't forget you are going to be there during the middle of the free dining period. I'll be at AS Music Sept 29th-Oct 7th and went ahead and booked a preferred room, because I wasn't willing to take a chance on being way out in the Country building.

When we were checking into POP Dec '05 a lady was unhappy with their room at check in and was demanding (rather loudly:rolleyes1 ) a preferred room in the 60's, saying that the 80's was too far for her kids to walk. She was told that no rooms in the 60's were available (of course that could have been because of her loud, nasty attitude when asking  ). Last Dec '06 I decided to upgrade from POP to a preferred room at CBR. I was able to get the preferred room at CBR for all the nights, except the first two. I called every day for about three weeks, but never could get it (plenty of standard rooms were available, just no preferred). I round up spending two nights at POP, before transferring over to my preferred room at CBR.

I have always book preferred because I do not want to be stuck at Country Fair.

The only way I would do standard was if I had my own car and wasn't going to use the busses, had my own food so I wouldn't need the food court, didn't plan on doing any shopping in Maestro Mickey's and didn't plan on asking the CM's in the lobby any questions.

For the amount they charge, especialy with little ones, I'd do preferred. No way do you want to drag Susie & Tommy through the long pathways to your resort at the end of a long hot day. That makes for a Disney memory of another kind, the kind you'd just as soon forget :rotfl2:
